Wandering Yew for weeks Cat had felt like a ghost haunting a once beloved home. Yew was still in her heart and would always be her true birth place. But like most she knew it was time to grow and look beyond those borders.
On impulse one night she attended the tavern festivities in Buc’s Den. It was noisy and crowded so she took a seat near the open door. She could hear familiar voices but couldn’t make out the words. The mood seemed to be light hearted with an underlying hint of hostility.
People came and went through the open door. She grew increasingly concerned for the welfare of her tail. Then a voice asked,” Why are you sitting here all alone?” She at first thought to just say it was for the fresh air from the open door but when she looked up and saw the man in blue she smiled and told him her fear of having her tail trampled. He didn’t blink an eye at the word “tail” but simply asked if she would like him to move her seat to a safer location. He introduced himself as Blackstar of Moonglow. As she sat down Blackstar sat beside her. A table was moved and more chairs were produced. Before she knew it she was enfolded in a group of handsome men in blue.
The names flew around as her mind tried to keep track of what name went with what face. Blackstar, Acheron, Sage, Ryu and Kyle. The faces in front of her were friendly and welcoming.
She felt herself taken back years to a time when she belonged to a guild named, “The Knights of the Golden Phoenix”. They had been as close as family and yet time had turned the guild asunder. All that was left were memories. It was good to see Moonglow putting fresh life into the blue uniform. It was especially good to know that like so many others it would not one day be just a memory.
She spoke to Ryu, the Mayor, and asked to become a part of their family. He gladly accepted her, tail and all.
So Cat’s new journey begins with new family and friends. She would hope to meet her friends from the past and renew those relationships. But to all that know her, they will see her as true blue.
