This is near the end of National book week.

Reach over and grab the nearest book to you and go to page 56. Post the fifth sentence as your signature for a day?

If someone is truly down and out, exploiting their dependence or pretending to help them while actually driving them to ruin can be a particularly artful form of ravaging.

The city is pretty old and seems to have grownup from settlements on a great number of islands in a large RIVER delta; after a while, the channels between island and island have become the canals ( dark OMT, scrummy OMT ) and on their banks houses have been built upon houses, mostly of timber ( rotting OMT ), with WHARFS on top of that and BRIDGES on and around those.

From City of Canals
~ The Tough Guide To Fantasy Land, Diana Wynne Jones

I wanted to participate in this but I finished my book and lent it to Ian. It was "Null/void" by our own Adrian Drake....actually that was my second time around reading that book, I like it. I won't start another book till I am on the plane, downloaded a Kindle app on my iPhone and grabbed a few free books to read.

Not going to make it my signature, but here:

Tables in 3NF could still have data modification anomalies due to other types of functional dependences (BCNF addresses the "reverse" dependency problem in a 3NF table where a non-candidate key attribute is the determinant of an attribute of the table).

Book: A Game of Thrones
Aurthor: George R.R. Martin

Jon hesitated, then nodded slowly. "Can you climb down, or shall I bring a ladder?"

Rereading this series again. Cannot wait until a week from Sunday when the show starts on HBO. I'm stupidly excited.
