Tonight's Tavern night in New Haven was wonderful. Even with cramped space it was refreshing to see new faces and get others involved whether in or out of the ARPC. I would like to see more in the future. It gets the ARPC seen.

Totally impressive night. Had a great time!

Personally I think this is how tavern nights should be. I know Kelly and I had non-rp'ers asking us questions. Personally, I would love to see to become the norm with tavern nights with different hosts. JUST MY OPINION!!!!

Great community showing tonight everyone. This is exactly what I was hoping tavern night would be. Just the other day i was saying how tavern night participation has been dwindling but this renewed my faith in tavern night. Lets keep this going to make our community something the public sees and recognizes. When i talk to people about RP most say they didn't even know the APRC even existed. Lets change that with the upcoming event in Britain and future events. Let the ARPC be a well recognized and respected association on Atlantic, by rpers and the public alike.

Aye... was lots of fun and another chance for the ARPC to interact with the larger community. Smile

I do hope that Ug Rankbreath was not too offensive to the ladies. Wynn's adopted brother is an orc that was raised by Humans so he is rather tame, and puppy'ish. As a result, he licks kisses. Just be careful if he ever *lifts leg to mark territory* near you. :p

New Haven was a great idea, the turn out was amazing and the rp great. Even the tavern brawl was hillarious hehe
if Tavern nights start to become like this, more of us that stopped attending will start going again.

Tavern Night;
A night when all guilds put aside their petty squabbles and focus on learning about members of other guild, recruitment of new players, and spread the word about ARPC and role play in general. This is what happen for the most part last night.

Yes there are those out there that could care less about what’s going on and some who even thought it was an EM event, and still others that looked down their noses at us as freaks of the game.

But what a lot of players did see is a whole lot of guild tags interacting as a group, and having fun doing it.

One Tavern Night each month should be done in this manner, at a city of the host’s guild choosing. Allowing for a bit more OOC meet and greet type atmosphere. The remainder should be done with the same neutral feeling as this, but with a stronger IC atmosphere at that guilds location. This will show case not only the host’s tavern or inn, but the guild culture, history, and style of role play.

The interactions of guilds for other things such as wars, love interest, spying, and other story lines can be done before or after Tavern Night and at times during the week when those involved are available.

One of the problems I have personally, is there is no place on any one board that I can go to a quick reference the status of guilds or story lines. This would be helpful so players don’t walk blindly in to something that have no idea what it’s about, because our characters would know who was at war with who and who is allied with who. Hell I can’t even tell what guilds are active with in the ARPC.

What I have seen so far is;
A guild in Magencia (M), Vampires (VO), Stonegate (SG), Blue Lotus (BL AoIL), a group of Brit Blacksmiths (BB?) and (Ode) which I’m not sure what they are. No offence to those listed or missing, its just there has been to little or in some cases no interaction, so we do not fully understand or know of a guild.

Tavern Nights would allow for better interaction so new guilds such as mind could interact and learn. I spoke with Miko, The Empress of Tokuno when we do a Tavern Night as Blue Lotus, we will do it as our alliance, meaning all four (4) guilds making up the Blue Lotus alliance will have members there acting and supporting as host. This will allow economy of effort so that the guilds are not taking on more than they can handle because of real life events or in-game participation.

Oh the quick reference thing I referred to earlier could be as simple as the following;

Tokuno Defense Forces:
Alliances:
Blue Lotus
Army of the Iron Lotus
Citizens of Tokuno
Stonegate

War or Hostile;
Vampiric Order (VO) Hostile

Special Story lines;
Lady in waiting with the empress
Training the Heir of the Empress

You could have one thread that each guild would post and update their information as things change. If there was a secret alliance with another guild you could note it to the side of that guild so others would not to treat it as common knowledge. This would allow GM’s to keep his players informed of the world around them.

Shim,
I am very happy with your board enthusiasm, and I have talked with my guild and every tavern night will no longer be held at our Bloodied Feast, We will be picking a town to do it in from now on. I picked Haven for two reasons last night. One, I know it was crowded but I did this on purpose for a reason, there was no cornor to hide in or sit all alone by yourself with your group. It was close quarters so you had to interact with one another. I know the text was hard to follow with everyone speaking but none the less, after an hour and a half we still had tavern night going. Most of the time Tavern night will last only for about 30 minutes and everyone’s gone by then because everyone and V|O is at fault with this as well, is doing their own thing. New Haven pushes you so close to one another and bumping into one another, it makes you have to interact. I am very proud of this community for last night in so many ways. You all came out and had fun role playing, and we set aside differences and were a family for one night. So every time V|O now host tavern night I want this to be the same way, a big showing in a city and all of us having fun.
Number two, the other reason I did this was to show off our community to the outside looking in. Last night we had three people ask for info to our boards and I even saw a few trying to role-play with us. I feel that if we can hold a tavern night in a city where it is populated, and I will probably be doing this again in new haven, it makes people interested in role play. yes you will always have people saying look at these freaks but what I found that was great was we did not have one outside member come in to disrupt the tavern night. I thought that was awesome because there were allot of people in Haven.
I also thought it was nice we had an EM come and attend the event around the end. We made him feel most welcomed and had fun talking with him. You all need to thank yourselves, it may have been my tavern night, but it was you, THE COMMUNITY that made this tavern night a wonderful success and it goes to show what we can do as a community when we come up with ideas. I love Shim you are coming up with ideas, and now I am starting to see people posting about things we should try out and do. People please keep this up, if you have an idea contact me and let’s see if It works out. Don't let this fire burn out, it will in the end make our community a better place, and the ARPC will be a very strong RP community. All we need to do is come up with ideas and post them on the boards and try them out. I did this tavern night because I saw people posting about hey tavern nights are dead, and no one ever comes around to them any longer like they use too. But tonight goes to show if you have an idea, and you put it into play, you may surprise yourself. I hope more of you will start posting your ideas so we can make this community a vibrant, hopping place like it should be. If you ever have an idea or a plan, please contact me and I will help you to make it work out. I don’t want to take any thanks for last night’s event, thank yourselves, it was all of you that made last night a wonderful tavern night, and just to let you all know. It’s just the beginning Smile

I agree with what Shim is saying. It's hard to RP when your lost on what is going on between other guilds. I'm going to request a thread specifically for my clan to let everyone know about what is happening with the vampires. Maybe others will follow suit.

a very great showing, had a blast at last night's tavern. maybe instead of one guild hosting a tavern night at a city, maybe we could get the guild leaders' of all guilds to come together to show the non rper's how grand the APRC community is.

I would just like to say to Shimakaze that this is a great part of what makes RP fun. No one ever knows history, background, or current and ongoing storylines when they sit down with a new person. To go behind the scenes and fill them in on everything past to present sort of defeats the purpose of getting to know someone, which is the best part, in my humble opinion. It's a matter of meeting this new person, formulating an idea of who you believe them to be. Then as you move forward and learn about their history and current events, it helps flesh out the idea. Learning about people fresh from the start is a great way to learn how they really are, rather than how others see them.

And also, if Lucian kisses me again I might stab him in the forehead with a spork. eyebrowsmilie
