I have been in the Role Play community for some time, involved in two different guilds and engaging in tavern night as well as other scenerios.

V|O has been working very hard on this event with a lot of work and time vested to ensure its success on March 26th. As you can see only a few have posted regarding this and we need more people involved. Let's get this thing started, bring RP back to Life.. Make people want to be a part of it!

We have many onboard but we need more people to start helping by atleast posting that they are going to come or not come. This isnt a V|O event, its an ARPC event.

I am happy Merci is getting whispering radio to help with this, but not having stonegate there just goes to show how truly divided the ARPC truly is, this is an event to set aside diffrences and work together to help build our community and make it larger. V|O has finished up all the uniforms for people to wear, we have the gold ready to go for the parade, and have done all the leg work.

All we asked was for people to let us know who was comming and wynn posted countless times, asking people when a good time to do a pratice. There has been no replys, either people are busy on vacation or what not, but what a truly sad event to show off our community, where we will have an EM there, and many many people who want to know more about the ARPC, and only 5-6 guilds show up.

All that shows is how truly divided a community we really are. we are trying to get people onboard and have a fun time, and maybe get some more roleplayers in this community, if you have a better idea please post something postive, or maybe be helpful like many who have been working on this like Wynn, Joanna, Kali, even Merci I must say atleast is trying to get whispering radio on this which I appreciate very much from her. Remember this event is to promote the ARPC, not V|O.

I don't know if it's just me but I've seen tavern night attendance dwindling and chatter on the boards non existent. Where is the community people! Posting for your guild mates and in your own forums is great but what makes us a community is dealing which each other. We need to focus on communicating and coming together as a community. Meriel didn't take a stab at the community, she poked a sleeping community that's ignoring a good chance to band together and bring in new people. This event is that chance for us to show Atlantic that we are something worth being a part of. What will they think if only a handful of guilds show up. Who wants to be part of a community when there is no conflict or rp relationships to rp about. Ask yourself where this community is going and what you are doing to support it. This is a pivotal point in our community and if there is going to be a future we need everyone's support on these events. Don't be so quick to throw out negative comments to people only looking to try to do something. This community is about helping people and having fun, not hounding new people about the rules and jumping on them when they say something you don't like. Lets work as a community not a group of individual guilds.

This echoes some of my thoughts lately. Let's get moving everyone!

I'd be involved with it, but it is on Mom's Birthday and there'll be hell to pay if I were here instead of there. I've delegated our guild's participation leadership to Wynn.

Seeing this with Fresh eyes:
As a new guild leader of a new guild, with only a small number of members, we would have loved to attend, but the day set for the event will not allow a guaranteed attendance due to most of us working on that day. We have been spending most of our time trying to recruit new members and getting settled in after transferring shards.

As for Tavern Nights, well I think you’re seeing numbers dwindle there because of how they are being used. Based on what I read and my understanding of them, they were supposed to be a neutral night for the guilds to gather and interact allowing outsiders to see how RP is conducted. But each one of thoses that our guild has attended thus far that was not sponsored by an allied guild has basically been a flex your muscles and step outside event. We came to Atlantic because what we saw and heard. Atlantic was where the best RP was. We have seen little of this since we have been here except for the events done by stonegate and the wedding (which was interrupted by the bane) that was done by Magencia. Everything else we have seen thus far, is no more than the kind of thing you would have expected from Fel PvPers. Yes we understand there is PvP within role playing, but it should not be the focus of it. Role playing is like an ongoing miniseries that should have drama, action, suspense, Intrigue, comedy, sorrow, and a whole lot of fun for everyone.

My hats off to VO, its members and those supporting their efforts in attempting to bring in others to the ARPC family. I think once this is done for good or bad, maybe it would be a good time afterwards to take a hard look at what we are as a community and reevaluate our goals and where we want to go as a family.

As a side note, the whole thing of giving out tons of gold has me concern, do we really want to try to buy players? Remember the old saying; “You get what you pay for!” RP is an art form, and is not everyone’s cup of tea. I would hate to see those who are putting this on, go through all this work, spending what I hear is a lot of gold, only to have it turn into one of those events that players come to, to grab as much as they can and scamper back to whatever they do normal. Quality has always been better then Quantity when it comes to excellent role playing, not how much land you have or how many fighters you can field. A house is only as strong as its foundation, as a new member seeing things with fresh eyes with no agendas or malice towards any; I can see we have cracks in ours that should be repaired before adding the weight of new membership.
The folks that we have meet so far have been gracious and generous with their time and information. I think we are all working towards the same goal, but from different views and angles. I hope we can pull together as a community.

I also dont think this was to anger anyone or to make it look like she is bashing. This as Shai said was a poke at a sleeping dog. This event will be fun. We as a community need to work on getting it back together and make it so that others want to join us. As Lucian has said. I have made many post. Yes there was some replies but as many that are on these boards we need more. THere is alot of guilds in the ARPC. I also agree. Mabey after this event we need to see where we all stand in the arpc. What can be done to make it better? To make us more of one "a family" . We had a great night the other night with Magencia. It was in town and there was great rp and Pvping. After it was all said and done there was no fussing or fighting or any problems. THere was jokes in chat and everyone getting along. THis is how it should be. THis event will show us in this type light. A Family. Not that we are just to ourselfs and that we are stuck up people. People on the outside need to see us for who we are. Very Caring and kind. Willing to help. Who would want to come into this community with the negative post or termoil. THe support group is working on something now to help promote people to reconize people. THere is so much negativity I know that this is with any group. but if you go back and look through out the post there is alot. We need to all think before we post. Think about how an outsider would look at the fighting and bickering. Would you want to join a community that does that? I am not on a soap box just stating what everyone from the outside would see. LEts all try to see how we can make this more enjoyable for everyone.

I have been around this community for several years now and have had my share of both fun and frustrations. I have seen the community at its best and its worst. Anyone around during the Protecterate days would have seen both, while the guilds of the community cooperated to build the new government, another was crumbling in its wake.

Interest gains then fades, new guilds emerge and all the activity will focus on a few guilds for awhile. Egos inevitably clash at times, which is to be expected to a degree in a game of this sort. With all those involved also living in the real world, it can be challenging to schedule ongoing RP scenerios.

My GM (Drayden), has mentioned to me that we should get involved in this, which I agree with and would enjoy helping in anyway possible.

my icq is- 630 079 371, just let me know what i can do to assist.

Thank you for understanding and posting your thoughts, it just annoys me when I have a member post and she is attacked for trying to get people excited for this event. We are the ARPC and I was here 3 years ago as the GM of CAP, and it was so much more active, I miss the protectorate days, When Isk was running it, he made strides to stop the vampires, and called them a scurge and we fought had many battles, and most of all had great rp, What is needed is for everyone to come out of their sandbox, and lets start interacting more.

V|O has been trying to get rp going and interacting with other guilds, one interaction was with Magincia another great guild of the ARPC, ran by Isk. EM Bennu was watching the whole thing and was very impressed with the ARPC and he said it was good to see some real good rp being done. We didnt even know he was there but he took an interest to watch what was going on. It was a compliment to the ARPC. After the battle, all that was said from Magincia was what a fun time, and great battle is was.

V|O is for this community, and for the ARPC why dont we all jump onbaord and lets make the ARPC strong again. Making the ARPC a great community is not saying ohh yeah we rp all the time and do stuff, thats good, but ask yourselves what are you doing for the community, what are you doing to make it better. As a GM I thought it was our duty to not only promote this entire community, but make it stronger. We can't do this hiding in our little corners and saying ohh yeah were rping all the time, becuase this is only the first step. The next step is to interact with one another, weather you like them or not, if you don't like them thats fine, but atleast rp it with them, or pass by being disgusted at them, let them know you dont like them. Breaking rp, and showing it by saying to them you annoy us, get out of here, we dont like rping with you is not the best way to make our community stronger, it only divides it deeper. I have made alot of friends here, and I have made alot of enemies, but I respect my enimies, cause this is still only a game, and we are here to have fun.

Alot of you mistaken me for being a *curseword filtered* , sorry for the language but I am an evil lord of a group of vampires who think we are better than you all. But thats the rp side to it we are the guild that has very aristrocratic views and are about themselves and their allies, but OOC, I respect every guild in this game. Dont get the two mistaken for my guild wanting to degrade you, or say harsh things. We want to be hated, its good for the good guys. When Isk ran the protectorate, he saw this, and he jumped all over it, and there was over 30 battles against the protectorate and CAP, my fondest memory was the battle at Castle British when people from the bank saw this huge battle going on, and thought it was some sort of event.

He forgot romance...never forget the romance.

So, March 26th? Okay I can help out. Not sure how but let me know what you need. [icq: 563-494-726]

PS: As I am newly arrived on Atlantic the history of the shard started, for me at least, on that day. What difficulties exist between the various guilds or personalities, be they IC or OOC are in your past and are, for me, irrelevant. I love to RP and will RP 24/7 with anyone who acts in a mature, informed and sincere manner. So, let's get on with it shall we?

Folks, this thread is more suited to the Great Lakes RP forums than it is to here.

Let's keep this constructive. No flaming, no name calling, no accusations. A neutral mediator is available if a guild needs one.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Merial didn't seem like she was bashing to me, but perhaps she has a hard time finding RP? If tavern nights don't work out for you, try visiting RP town areas like Stonegate. Once our city is restored we hope to make use of anything the developers give us from the kindness of their hearts...
Marius, the parade started out as your RP event idea. You are in charge of coordinating it, taking initiative to speak to individual GMs and help them participate. The ball is in your court. You can't just throw a post up and expect every GM to hop on it. ICQ them, tell them how they can help and give ideas if they don't have a clue. Keep the communication going and you will probably have better luck, man.
This parade is a great thing for the ARPC, but remember that it is not mandatory attendance for all guilds.
That said...
The guilds that participate will be the only ones the public sees and that is good advertisement. Guilds who don't participate will miss out on that. I would think any guild looking for new members would want to be there.
I know Magincia will be there.
Don't make me wield my awesome moderating powers on this post, please. Have pity.
I'm cleaning out the bickering.
I suggest that Marius and Merci speak to a neutral mediator to put this issue to rest.
I have a solution...
I think each and every RPer out there is stupid.... THERE. Now you have a common enemy and can band together and hate me Smile lol
No not yet? Hmmmm well James Bunnyman or whatever.. he is my new BFF... do you all hate me now? Good. Now band together and hate me. Even though I dont know a good number of you. But I will eventually and then I will hate you too. lol
No.. only joking. But Ive seen a community completely destroyed by OOC stuff. On Catskills, it was basically wiped out for a very long time and I am just now hearing they are starting to pick themselves up as a community. I would hate to see this happen here because that is why I moved to Atlantic.
I know I am not a member of the ARPC or anything yet... But honestly, my expirence thus far with the community has been really great. I know there is tension (that is obvious from this thread) but my time with Stonegate has been a very positive expirence. I have spoken with various GM's like V|O and Q^A and members from guilds like [M], TM, and others. All have been for one reason or another and again over all the interaction (IC or OOC) has been positive.
Not saying the GMs need to sit around as camp fire or something. But I dont remember who I suggested this to, but what if there was a Vent channel for the GMs? It would put a person behind the pixel and might be a much easier way to smooth things over and get back to the RP fun.
Just a thought from a semi-new Atlantian (is that right?) and a new GM of a RP guild on Atlantic.
Hi everyone.. I'm known as Chron to most people who knew me back in the old days,
and I've been around for long enough that most guilds that existed back then.. don't any more.
Guilds come and go, as do people, the problems within the RP community remain the same however.
As a recent returnee, after a "short break" of 6 years, I have a fresh set of eyes as well,
and I am fairly untainted by the issues that have come and gone since then.
I played for nearly that long before stopping, my every guild being an RP guild, since the beginning. Now, Magincia is my home.
In coming back to this game I had no ties at all. I did not even realize the RP community still existed.
Rare chance linked me up with some of the people that I knew back then.. And it has ensured my return to not just be a short revisit.
I want you all to know that I was greeted with open arms and helped in every way imaginable, which I have *no* doubt would have happened regardless of which guild I joined.
That is but one testament to the power of this community.. You feel like you have a place. Some people want to be active contributors, others want to watch.
That is okay, there is no point in forcing people against their wills.
The purpose of the original poster was to point out that a good way to grow as a community,
is to put aside our differences, and join up in a unified support of any ideas that might bring more people, more interaction, more fun.
The choice of words might be easily misunderstood, but lets not let that swerve us from the intent of the post.
Let us get this topic back to the point at hand. More volunteers are needed!
I wholeheartedly believe that we need the GM's of all our guilds to utter their support for these things, and this event, even if they have reservations.
This is the first step for getting back on track.
The GM's above all are active contributors to this community.
They have taken on the responsibility of carrying their part of the workload, and how they stand on a given subject reflects their guild's stance.
We need to keep in mind that our numbers have dwindled since the grand days, we cannot afford this fragmentation.
Separating IC and OOC is hard, for everyone. Many of us need to have conflicts to have fun,
but we also need to remember that after the fight is over, we're still part of the same community, the same family.
Since my return my interaction with other guilds has been quite limited, in fact it has revolved mostly around conflicts, and a few good tavern nights (That have grown fewer since my return).
This is our chance to do something together that does not involve conflicts, but sets them aside for a common cause.
I would like to get to know you all, and let you know that underneath this Magincian armor, is a fuzzy puppy/kitten (depending on your likes), that enjoys spending time with people of all affiliations.
On a final note, I would like to add that our battle with V|O in Britain was so very well thought out by V|O, we ended up having a lot of fun, everything went beyond "By the book", and it turned out to be great time for everyone involved.
I would like to thank them for all the work in planning it. I would encourage anyone to go ahead and talk to them about doing events together. For that matter, feel free to talk to us as well *smiles*
A warm and pleasant greeting from a oldtimer reborn,
Chron.
ICQ 64985230. Feel free to talk to me about any and everything.
