She sat, shivering in the Meadhall. "Only cookies and vegetables again" she sighed. She was determined to make a go of it here.
There were times in the past few weeks where she was not sure of her choice. New scents filled her nose- and there was always the cold. Many ignored her presence. "Pooka" was all they saw. Another trixter. A misfit.

Well, wasn't that what she had always been?

Her aunt had not known what to do with her. "You are far too truthsome 'Nara. Some day it will get you in trouble. Learn to make up stories better. Cant have no niece of mine going round telling the truth all the time. Its high time you grew up, and stopped daydreaming of being a warrior. As if the queen would allow a runt such as yourself to fight. You'll be a fine dear. Dont pout like that. Our family is part of a long line of pooka, serving great and notable households. Why...look at your Uncle James. He's done a fine job serving the De'Winter family. Even has a place of standing there. Working for Queen Elisandra. Talented he is. Very skilled in the ways of the silver road too. Work like he did and you just may make a name for yourself. Come along girl...don't dawdle or Blue will have you for breakfast. Quit draggin your feet"

Just then a ROAR filled the meadow.

"Quick girl, Run as if your life depended on it, Into the thicket!"

A Rush of hot air blew past her, followed by tongues of flames. She high tailed it towards the thicket, tripping over a rock...and felt herself tumbling...head over heels...through a hole at the base of a tree. She felt herself falling, tumbling seemingly endlessly...past bookshelves and teakettles, all seeming far too much like a story she had read once. " Great. My luck I'll fall into a fairy tale and get myself stuck."
