“Daddy will not be pleased," Kor'inth thought as she brushed her hair and pulled on her hooded robe as she put the finishing touches on her outfit for tonight's gathering at a local tavern. Orlando, her appointed bodyguard, had shown up while she was training and told her she needed a break and some time for fun. Orlando had been all but non-existent for the past few weeks; Kor'inth actually had hoped he was dead for his smart ass remarks were all that the vampire princess could handle.
When she arrived at the tavern he told her, Kor'inth, drew in a deep breath and tugged the hood further down her forehead. Appearing as a young woman in her late teens, she was quite anxious about venturing away from her parents respectable palaces. "But Orlando is here to protect you, he's more afraid of Daddy than me," she chuckled to herself. Kor'inth saw a variety new people in odd dress; she even caught scent of a few members of the lycan clan her father had mentioned. Orlando kept his interactions with her very business-like and distant, she thought she has caught a few glimpses of something metallic in his inside shirt pocket and could already smell alcohol on his breath when they arrived. "Great, he's drinking already to help him through this little excursion." Well if he needed a drink to tolerate her, she was going to make this night very hard on him. Kor'inth straightened her back, squared her shoulders, and shifted her attitude to that of her high status.
The grunts and sighs of distain subsided from Orlando's mouth the more he drank and the more Kor'inth was served. Kor’inth also relaxed with every drink from the pitchers he was serving her. The wine was quite sweet although lacking the metallic spice of blood. Kor’inth still had not fed from a living being, at least not to the point of draining the victim dry. She was too afraid to get so carried away in the feeding that she would have to be forced to turn the victim into a vampire. So most of her feedings came from the various slaves and wayward humans in alleyways, people no one would believe should they start claiming vampire.
The tavern became more and more crowded and Kor’inth became more and more uneasy. Between the wine and the scent of blood filling her nostrils, the desire to feed was overwhelming. Thankfully, Orlando suggested they move to a less crowded area. Kor’inth nodded and followed him to an upstairs room. Shortly after their arrival, a familiar masked man showed up. Kor’inth pointed him out to Orlando stating that he was the man she listened to at the bonfire she observed while hidden in the shadows. Orlando advised her that the masked man was Isk, the Magnate of Magincia. At the same time, Kor’inth sensed another presence had entered the tavern…one of parental power. Soon her feeling was confirmed when her father, Ian Nottingham appeared on the stairs. Being somewhat intoxicated, Kor’inth began complimenting the masked man on how moved she was by his words and agreed with much of his thoughts, being careful to remain hidden by her hood. Taking no noticed of her or her compliments, the man excused himself to another room after briefly greeting her father. Kor’inth and Orlando both quickly tucked the pitchers out of sight as her father made his way towards them. No doubt he would be able to tell how intoxicated she was and more than likely slay Orlando on the spot. Thankfully, a stranger checked to see if they required anything, and upon his introduction, Ian recognized his name from a message he had received. After the men departed, Kor’inth collapsed in relief in a nearby chair and resumed her drink. Orlando sat next to her and continued his flirtatious ways.
At some point, Orlando managed to sweet talk his way into getting Kor’inth to remove her hood. Complimenting her and blushing in the process, they were joined by Kelly Darkhaven, one of Ian’s kindred. Kelly was joined by Maia’s shadow spider Squishy, which Kor’ith loved to play with. Ian re-joined them and kept close eye on Orlando, growls escaping every now and again with any attention Orlando may have made towards his daughter. Kor’inth even caught a few glimpses of Ian’s eyes turning black when Orlando had attempted to receive a kiss from Kor’inth after she had kissed her father’s cheek.
At some point the conversation shifted and Orlando became very disrespectful of spiders in general and this in turn ignited Kor’inth’s short temper. Ian suggested that Kor’inth take him to her mother’s city and instruct him. Kor’inth agreed and soon all four of them were on her mother’s soil. Ian and Kelly excused themselves to speak with Kal’iksix while Kor’inth showed Orlando around the town. He made several inappropriate comments that would have made Kor’inth blush when they are at the brothel and the hot tub area of the tavern. Kor’inth showed him the city guardian, a large stone spider that appeared to come to life when Kor’inth approached. Orlando shuddered and stood behind Kor’inth. Kor’inth chuckled and made their way to the temple.
Orlando’s disrespectful comments continued once they reached the sacred temple. Kor’inth’s rage was fueled even more but what really set her off was his comments about her hair color.
“Did you lose a fight with a pixie??” He laughed. That was all Kor’inth needed, something inside her snapped and she growled low at him. Her eyes completely filled in crimson red and the markings, similar to her fathers, that only appeared when she was angry, began to glow on her right side. At some point, her twin siblings showed up and were watching their sister and this male. Orlando stepped back realizing that he push Kor’inth a bit too far, the fear beginning to build and his heart began to race. Kor’inth could hear his increased heart rate and the smell of fear and blood filled her nostrils. Orlando tried to stammer something else out but Kor’inth had bounded forward and knocked him on his back. She grabbed a handful of hair and snapped his head back to expose his neck.
“Too late,” she growled in response to his plea and sunk her fangs deep into his carotid arteries. She drew hard and deep, feeding from him as her brother and sister clapped and cooed on. Before long, Orlando quite fighting her and soon became very still. Kor’inth pulled back and poked at him. There was no response and his color had become very pale.
“Vith!” she swore, “Stay here and watch him.” Kor’inth told her toddler siblings. Kor’inth ran as fast as she could to her mother’s palace. Barging in on a conversation would not be received well, but she was in full panic. She had killed the one that was in charge of her protection.
“DADDY!!!!”
“This better be important!” Ian growled with eyes glowing red as he turned towards her.
“I smell blood,” Kelly responded. Kor’inth slowly tried to secretly lick the blood from the corners of her mouth.
“Daddy, please, hurry….I…I...it was an accident,” Kor’inth’s voice quivered as blood tears brimmed her eyes, “Fix him, you have to!!!” Kor’inth tugged relentlessly at Ian’s sleeve. |

Ian stood and followed Kor'inth toward the temple, Kelly and Kal'iksix following close behind, Upon opening the doors he could smell the blood and it didn't take long to find Orlando's lifeless body on the ground in front of the altar. "Daddy, FIX HIM! I didn't mean to do it!" was all Kor'inth seemed to be capable of saying as Ian watched his youngest children in stunned disbelief. Rhylicice was lifting and dropping Orlando's arm to the floor repeatedly while Xun'afein sat on his chest growling and slamming his tiny fangs into any exposed piece of skin he could find.
Ian turned back toward Kor'inth, his eyes glowing deep red. "You KNOW I don't turn mortals!" he growled at her.
"But DADDY, I like him!"
Seeing that she was nearing hysteria, Ian rolled his eyes and sighed as he heard Kelly laughing behind him. "Fine, but you're helping."
Before Kor could answer, Ian had her kneeling next to Orlando's lifeless body. Taking a knife from his boot, Ian sliced into both his and his daughter's wrist. Ian placed his wrist over Orlando's mouth, the blood from the wound dripping into it. Glaring at his daughter he grabbed her hand and repeated the process.
Ian stood as Orlando began to move once again. "He's yours now dear, don't break anymore of your toys" he growled as he looked toward Kal'iksix, who was clearly not amused by the events taking place in her Llothian temple. "You can explain this to your mother."
Taking the children in his arms, Ian turned and exited the temple. _________________ Ian Nottingham
