The shadows grew tall and darkened to the point you could barely see through them. They began to take an almost humanoid shape, then fell into a big shadowy puddle. "Nonono! You're not supposed to do that!" Maia kicked at the shadows that now dissipated with her lack of focus. "Stupid shadow!" She grunted and stormed off through the woods.
After calming down, she began to try again. This time she went smaller. The shadows formed into a melon sized blob before her. Maia opened her eyes and giggled. She used her hands to help somewhat sculpt the small shadowy blob into, what looked like a melting spider. She made it do simple tasks like pick up small sticks or go bring down a bird's nest. "Aren't you so cute!" she giggled maniacally. "I shall name you Squishy!" The little shadowy spider looked around and then up at her. Its form shook off any of the melty look to actually look like a spider. Then its eyes, all eight of them, glowed an eerie red, and blinked. Maia jumped out of her skin. "HEY!! You're NOT supposed to do that!" She yelled, not caring who or what heard her. "Spiders don't blink!" She crouched as the little spider jumped up and down a few times. Maia smiled at her new little friend. "Squishy blinks!" She held out her hands and the little spider hopped into them. Then it crawled up her robe sleeve.
"Hey stop it! Nonono! Not there! Not that! Nono don't touch that!" She danced all over the woods as the little shadow spider that blinked tickled her and moved under her robe and armor, playing its own version of Peek-a-boo with her.
Little Squishy was playing hell with Maia and enjoying it. The little impish spider brought to existence by the whim of a half crazed vampire, had found a friend. It had found life...of sorts. It wanted to do everything for its new friend. Though it would have to argue over who was who's "pet" with her.
Maia and Squishy played through several cities and were far from tired even as dawn approached. "Oh Squishy I have got to show you to Mr Ian! He'd LOVE you!"
Squishy blinked excitedly and hopped a few times.
Maia nodded and mentally gave Squishy the directions to his house. "Go say hi to him. But make sure you come home! I gotta go to sleep though. You be careful and don't get caught!" She shook her finger at Squishy. The little spider hopped down and began its trek to find Mr Ian.
