I found this rather interesting, though sadly not all that surprizing.
What I did find of interest was the both DAoC and UO have more subscribers than War....

Anyways if you have interest in EA/Mythic Politics it's worth a read.

An anonymous artist at Electronic Arts dishes the dirt on why Warhammer Online was a failure and who exactly in upper management is to blame. Oh, yes, let the flame-throwing begin!

Oh, and there are a few more Q&A's on his blog in the comments section.

One thing that sticks out is what happened with Sanya 'etc

Nothing I haven't heard about EA before. I also doubt TOR is going to be as bad as he says, but that's just conjecture.

Amusing read, but I didn't need to be convinced that EA is a bad company.

I read it, and I echo Rosar in that I've heard a lot of the bad before, though this is a brand new steaming pile of bad.

Funny coincidence, a similar blog went up about Icefrog working for Valve on DOTA2. http://icefrogtruth.blogspot.com/ Interesting read as well.

Never played/gave a rat's ass about DotA, mainly because I never bought WC3. Any good?

*droolz over Ailsa's sig*

Wait, what? Oh, right, the link.

Interesting stuff. As a total outsider as far as artistry/gaming I have no idea how much is "real" and how much is sour grapes.

DOTA was fun in the WC3 era but it suffers from terrible interface and control as a result of it, well, being the ol' WC3 engine. If you want that experience, I played the free HON beta, it was pretty decent.

I imagine DOTA2 will be decent; that blog wasn't about criticizing what DOTA2 will become, just that the guy running it is shady and ruining some of the best values the company has. Unfortunately the only people I know that play HON still are complete dickbags. Very competitive. Yell a lot. No thanks.

Oh, I know. If all that is true, I would be pretty upset too.

Think I'll give it a miss, then.

Wise choice, IMO. By the time you've thrown yourself at it enough to be good at it, you'll be so jaded it won't be worth it. It'd be great if it wasn't pure online and had LAN and you could gather up a bunch of randoms that were more laid back.

...Like DOTA in WC3. Haha. Very Happy
