Anger pure and heated rushed through her body. She wanted to rip something to pieces. It was that simple. Drawing blood, anyone's blood would work. Ebon, her beloved husband had already lost an appendage to her rage and there was no sign of it ebbing anytime soon.
The hunt last eve for Malthrax had taken it's toll on her. Everything was taking a toll on her it seemed. The slightest exertion left her winded and even more angry than she had been when she started. Her eyes were now sunken in and dark circles lived underneath as if they had carved out homes for themselves.
Ebon had tried to get her to lay down, to calm down and even his smoothest voice got rebuffed at the edge. No, nothing was going to ease this. As if she were being tested or punished, something within sapped all of her strength with each passing moment. |

Great harts, bulls, cows, bears, chickens by the score... all were becoming extinct around the valleys of Stonegate. Ice snakes would quickly slither underground at the sight of Ebon coming from his home.
As Livvie's appetite grew, Ebon's hunts had became further and further away, even to other shards where on at least ten of them he would be greeted by pitchforks and torches from the local farmers who did not approve of the dark cloaked stranger pillaging their fields .
Both he and his brother Alex took turns watching over her as the other would go out to hunt, and the time was approaching that Alex should be replaced by a midwife. His bedside manor, non-existent, shown as he would lob fresh carcasses into the room and slam the door behind him. If he talked to her at all, it was with hand on hilt and from behind a shield, yelling threats of bodily harm if she had a fang for him.
Ebon would warn Alex of his anger, but then Alex would argue "She doesn't look at you as she does me, like I'm on a menu. I picture myself somewhere between roast duck and mincemeat pie." He would then remind Ebon of his hand, the flesh still regenerating from weeks before. "Ebon, if theirs nothing left, will we come back?"
"Brother, you're foolish for thinking such things of Livvie. She would never eat you. Coagulated blood doesn't set well on her stomach" grinned Ebon, holding up his hand. "At any rate, she needs a midwife. I will ask the Oracle and Kaedance to watch over her while we hunt."
Then Ebon entered the house and approached his wife's bedside. As she lay there sleeping, he softly touched her bosom. Immediately, he felt the great energy of his children in the womb, their small forms writhing and kicking, stronger with each thrust. Just then, Ebon would feel something that would send him running out the door in search of the Oracle's council, something that would startle Ebon as nothing else ever had. He would feel Livvies life force, slowly slipping from her grip. |
