Eclyse unfurled the parchment and read the message with a nod. She flipped open her pack to retrieve her quill and found her journal missing. Carefully first, then frantically, she searched every nook of her pack until she was sure the journal was absolutely gone. A feeling of panic began to pour over her like a bucket of icewater.

Kaylor, I gave it to him to show him my sketch. Eclyse stood stock still for a moment, her stomach flipping over inside her, then she sighed. Surely he wouldn't read his squire's journal....

With a deep breath to steady her hand, she pulled her quill and a sheet of parchment from her pack and penned a quick response.

Sir Kaylor,

I'll await your orders this eve. I am at ever at your disposal, and will ride with you this night. I had also hoped to check with you to see if you still have my journal. I gave it to you last eve, but I'm afraid I forgot to retrieve it. I shall relieve you of the burden of carrying it tonight.
