Ven sprawled out on the king-sized bed and looked up at the ceiling, allowing himself a tiny smile. Bed. A large, comfy bed. When was the last time he actually slept in a nice bed? Gods, it felt like it was ages. "The last time must have been..." He frowned. "It must have been prior to seeking out the Temple." This thought brought an anxious feeling in his chest. The Temple. He was so so close to it, to the secrets it contained. But now, here he was. On some other plane of existence, with the only bright spot of his whole ordeal being that he had met a few nice people along the way.
A few "nice" people. Hrm. Perhaps that was an understatement. Stepping out of the Moongate inside the city that he now knew to be called "Luna", Ven had been utterly confused. The gate at Scare Bray... ARGH! No. Skara Brae. Why was that so hard for him to remember? In any case... the gate in Skara Brae was in the woods. He had stepped into a gate in the woods and out in the middle of a city. A LOUD city. Men shouting at him constantly about the goods they were selling, people running in all directions... it briefly reminded him of home. Of the city he grew up in as a boy. Thankfully, there was a man in Luna who had three horses with him that had taken pity on Ven and given him a mount for free.
Ven smirked. "Pity. He took pity on me. Have I sunk so low that I require pity to live?" Perhaps. But if that is what it took, that is what it took. Ven's arrogance and pride had resulted in him being thrown onto this plane. If he wanted to learn the magic here, if he wanted to survive, he would have to put all of that aside. "We are starting from scratch here. I am a youngling when it comes to these parts. I have to remember that. I must be open and willing to learn..." Gods, but that was the hardest part, wasn't it? Going from a powerful mage back to a student? "Time to swallow your pride, buddy. It's going to be a long ride."
Ven rolled onto his side and let his head sink into the soft pillow. There was always a silver lining. At least he had found his way here (although by accident). And "here" was apparently a city (or was it Nation? Or both?) known as Stonegate. The people he had met had been exceedingly nice. He was particularly found of the woman called "Merci", although he wasn't quite sure what to make of her. Or of most of the other people he had met, for that matter. Myrddin clearly seemed to be in charge; if not the King or General then some other high-ranking office. He too, had been nice, although not as warm to him as some of the others. And that stone... Ven could only remember it was called the Ether Stone, although Merci had said it had another name. Something about Lycans? He wasn't sure. In any case, it clearly seemed to be a powerful object. It was interesting, for sure...
Ven slowly closed his eyes. Here, in the Inn at the Meadhall in Stonegate, he resolved to himself that he would find a way to repay these people for their kindness (they had even offered to help him train his "new" magic). He would work with them. FOR them if necessary. And he would find out more about this Ether Stone... _________________ Veneficus, The Blue Mage |

Fate had a way of guiding our destinies in unusual ways. Fairly often of late, Fate had decided that beings from other realms were better suited in this one. Fate was cruel oft times dragging them quickly out of thier lives and depositing them completely alone in some forsaken place.
Like the Forsaken North...
The Oracle looked at Veneficus realizing that, they Stonegate were a portal, they harbored the Strong, who survived this test. New meaning dawned within her, and suddenly she understood things clearly.
Her mind watched as he began to understand, to grow, his mind opening to their ideals and she smiled to herself. This day Stonegate has been granted a New Sorcerer, we shall see what path lies before us now.
Forget all you knew, For you will never be the same.
Forget what was, forget your past desires and loves,
Forget what brought you here, it Matters Not.
For now you are one of The Chosen. _________________ May destiny guide you... |
