Are you by chance the Roland Deschain formerly of OES and the TmR? _________________ Dryzzid#5091 | 74503058 |

Actually no I am not. It's not surprising that there is more than one Roland Deschain, though, as he is the main character in the novels that make up a series called The Dark Tower
http://www.stephenking.com/DarkTower/
They are written by Stephen King, but they are not horror stories. They are strict fantasy and they are amazing. Everyone I have suggested read them has loved the series.
Is the other Roland still active? Perhaps I should change my name... |

Not a knock at anyone, but this is why I always strongly suggest people not reuse names from other people's fiction.
Many MMO's will often forcibly rename a character if it uses the name of a character from a published source. In City of Heroes, it's a potentially banable offense.
Case in point - The Dark Tower series has been around since the early 80's, and was written by Steven King - a megastar in the publishing/writing world. They've been adapted into comic books, there's been talk of a movie, there was a spin off in the form of an online game...
Roland Deschain is a cool name, and in theory it sounds unique.
The original print run was 100,000 hardcovers. It went to a second printing in 3 months. It was in paperback when the second printing happened - and that was almost 30 years ago. Six more books have been written in the series since then.
Stephen King is one of the most popular American writers of the last 35 years. I'm going to guess there isn't one person on these boards that hasn't read at least one of his books or seen at least one of his movie adaptations.
This is just my opinion, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Personally, I'd say make your own name, forge your own identity. _________________

Dealth, you realize MY name is from The Dark Tower, too, right? Cuthbert is a recurring character in that series (although he is really only heavily featured in book 4).
That being said, Dealth does have a point. I actually picked the name Cuthbert and not Roland as a name specifically because I thought it would be a bad idea to have my char be the main char in the series of novels. Roland, if you can, I would suggest picking a different name. I think it might just be better overall. _________________ General Cuthbert

Isk 10:02 PM: I killed an orc, the other 4 killed me then they peed on me and the banner.
Cuth 10:03 PM: lmao. okay, so we must get them back
Isk 10:04 PM: I got f**kin peed on. so, yea

Yes, it's also a lore character from the Greyhawk world setting in AD&D.
And Sara, yes I am. You should see me when I'm being mean. I've made grown men cry. I've made at least one person feel so insulted they left the party we were at and drop socializing with my entire social circle. I once insulted a person so soundly, that the entire floor of the building I was in, cleared. At the age of 10, I called my adult brother on his BS to the point that 30 years later, our relationship is still strained.
Unlike other jerks, I don't bother to pretend I'm otherwise. I'm also not deluded to thinking that my opinion is anything more than that: an opinion. It's not right, it's not wrong. It's my opinion, nothing more. Just because I offer it, doesn't mean I expect people to need it, heed it, or even care. I simply put it out there. _________________
