Hail, folks.

I am Cuthbert, or I was 4 or 5 years ago. I played UO for quite a while, some of you might remember be from the Jhelom Council of Valor and/or the Hand of Humanis.

Anyway... I have again gotten the "itch" to get back into MMORPGs and Ultima has always been my go-to for this type of thing.

I was wondering what the current players actually felt about the game state itself. What do you like about Ultima right now? What don't you like? If you were playing back when I played, what are the positive changes that have occurred? What are the negative?

Looking forward to (hopefully) reading your responses!

I have played steadily for ten years. I love the game. Yes, it does change, some good, some bad, but I enjoy it always.

Hey dood, long time no see. Dragoona here. The game has actually gotten better. I can honestly say I enjoy the latest expansion and I enjoy hunting in it. They have an actual artist now who makes new graphics and things. Holiday content does more than just rehue and rename old items. I'd say it's worthwhile to buy a few months and check it all out. If you need help getting into the loop just ask.

Dragoona! Good to know there are still "originals" lurking around! Smile (I have seen Rufus posting in the forums, too). It's good to know they have made positive changes. I glanced over some thread talking about the Atlantic Mage Tower. What's the deal there? Are the GMs/Devs getting more involved with the Players again?

Kuja and Rufus! w00t! How have you guys been?

Rufus, that's so random that you just came back, too! How have you been finding the game compared to what it used to be? Better? Worse? There have been a lot of expansions since I left... I am wondering how good they are.

Been doin' OK, how 'bout you, suh?

I'm not playing now, but I've come back off and on over the past few years. I just can't get back into it, but, I have expectations for MMORPGs that border on unrealistic. ML and SE were both kinda crappy, but SA has some decent content in it. If you come back, come back for the community first, game second. I still say that they could've put their efforts into improving upon UO instead of redoing it (with AOS and afterward) to conform and imitate other MMORPGs, and I think that all walks of players would've been better served that way, including the roleplay community, but I digress. TL;DR, if you left before AOS, it is currently worse, if you left after AOS, it is currently better, after quite a slump. Personal opinion, of course.

Yup, I left well after AOS. It sounds like it has gotten better from there. At least there is new content to poke around in. Dunno. How's the community RP?

Omg Cecil showed up too!

It's like a Reunion, but not really.

It's all "new" to me so, I've been playing around with some of the "new" content. And I must say it's been pretty enjoyable. Lore-wise...both in community and general game stuff, I've had some catching up to do.

Personally, I've noticed that there is little to No drama, and when everyone plays together, there is great roleplay. Though...the chances of seeing everyone together are slim; in my opinion anyhow. There arent Cliques, but its like we all live on the same street and play in our own yards. All in all though, I have been having fun

Welcome back, sir. I look forward to Rping with you.

Not sure how much you missed, but there is a lot of cool stuff added to the game if you are into crafting and pixel crack. It has always been my opinion that new content helps RP, as far as new RP props to play with, new clothing, new foods in some cases, and now also new races (elves and gargoyles).

Also, I believe ML and the other prior expansions are free to download on UO.com. There is a new client that is based on the more popular mmorpgs on the market, as far as key commands. It's pretty neat, you can zoom in and out and the maps are amazing. I still play the 2d most of the time, but I guess it depends on my mood and what I need to do in game. The new client is boss if you are trying to find something that's buried in a box in your house.. Embarassed

Not sure if you are a mage. But, if you are, thanks to the Imbuing skill, it costs like nothing to make you a "jump-back-in-the-game-and-start-RPing" LRC suit. If you don't pvm or pvp, you can just stick with that suit, or mix and match with other imbued pieces if you get tired of the same look. There are tons of helpful people in the com that would make you what you need, including myself.
