Kaylor slipped out of his robes, a sliver of moonlight glinting off the steel set of his sinews as they rippled with tension in the heated breath of summer's melancholy. Bathed in a fine sheen of sweat, his statuesque form gave little hint to the threat of tightly coiled emotions about to burst forth with unbound ferocity. He stepped into the lake, allowing the water its aqueous grace as it welcomed his entry with calming compassion. A duel; just another challenge, no different than the countless many that had gone before. Lowering his head beneath the water's surface, he brought it quickly back up again, his hair clinging fast to the sculptured planes of his face which suddenly gave way to a betrayal of feelings upon the echo of a woman's words. Tomorrow we shall meet and settle this. The cost of honour was unbearable this night, commanding a far higher price than any he'd known. _________________ *Even if you be otherwise perfect, you fail without humility. ~ The Talmud* |

A soft smile danced across his countenance as the glacial gale encircled him. "Sacrifice," he whispered. "Humility." _________________ *Even if you be otherwise perfect, you fail without humility. ~ The Talmud* |
