I have read the first 3 pages of this topic and then skipped the rest because there is just so much text.

In my opinion, everyone needs to calm down and look at the facts (if this is really how it happened).

1) This guy has been trying for years to make this happen.
2) Suddenly he gets word that the tower needs to be placed within the next day.
3) He asks if the same can be done on Atlantic and Mesanna agrees.
4) He goes to the spot of the original tower in Trammel and it is occupied, so he picks the same spot as LS.
5) He puts his friend in charge because he doesn't really know anyone from this community.

So now we are in a situation where a brand new community location will be built. I think everyone should look at this as a blessing. You guys should form your council and move forward. Don't bicker over how this all got started. Look at it as a brand new spot for players to enjoy. Rename it to something else besides the Atlantic Mage Tower if the council decides. The ball is in your court to cooperate with what is being done.

JC the issue is, if this was done from the get go as a community center no problem. With the tower having been placed in Moonglow it makes it unlikely that the AMT will ever be restored.

Your #1 is referring to Derium and his work on LS which I applaud. We have players on Atlantic who have been trying the same thing for years and because of the way this was done it makes it unlikely that those players work will ever be recognized.

Beleth you're making assumptions without even talking to the powers that be. How do you know they won't restore the tower? I offered in my first post and I will do so again: I will work with anyone who will have me to help bring back the original tower. We can make the memorial site such an integral part of the center (with events, etc) that restoring the original tower is the next logical step. But it will take teamwork to do that. Smile

You have stated that your original proposal to Mesanna sent in by Derium was to restore the mage towers. That leads me to believe that this tower is what that was meant for. I have not spoken to Mesanna regarding this and will of course bring it up during the meetings. Beyond that point however even if this is just a community center it's location is poorly chosen and Atlantic ALREADY HAS ONE. Why not offer to give up the tower pixels and request to make use of that one?

We all know how inconsistent the event team has been for UO. There is no official program in place to get stuff like this built. Somehow, Derium was able to make this happen. He was nice enough to get this created on Atlantic as well. He even decided to let you guys form a council to manage it. Now you all can do what you want with it. You should be figuring out how to form the council.

JC, I would have no problem assisting with a council run by someone with a definitive plan or who has outlined a project. What seems to have happened here is someone was put in charge of something and that person has no details as to how he wants to run things. If EM Eris or EM Nestor ran this I would take part without issue and try to promote events. As it stands now we do not even know how many people Phoenix will allow on his "community council", what their obligations are, or how much time they are required to dedicate.

That is because this is all still in the works. This is all very ground floor. I can't miracle plans out of thin air. Wink They come from discussions, like this one. They come from talking to and cooperating with interested parties.

It's like sausage. It's awesome, but no one should watch it being made. Well, we are still making the sasauge. If I came to you and said our sasauge is complete it was still half cased, half ground, falling out all over the place, I'd agree with you. Rather, we've come and said we are starting this, we want advice. And we really do Smile

Did you ask him that yet?

Yes. A few pages back.

It is all "still in the works".

Yes, I said I would like to have 6-7. Too small doesn't feel right, and too many makes the group unworkable. I also said I would consider more if everyone felt it should be larger. As for obligations of council members that is all still in the works. And we are looking for advice and input.

Thanks JC for the level head. It is much appreciated.

If you do not even know how the council will function why have you sent out invitations to several players? If you are leading this council you SHOULD have a "miracle" plan. If you had a history running events or projects you would know this,

The original proposal for ATLwas sent by me. It referred to a mage tower and ways to turn it into a community center. We've since moved beyond that. It is a community center. period.

Atlantic already has a community center in Skara Brae.

Period?

Regardless I am done with this quote war for now, the community meeting is where the real decisions will be made anyways.

Invitations were sent to respected members of the community to help develop the plan. I'm absolutely positive many reputable people were missed. Id love their names.

I say period because it is a community center. Not the Mage Tower.

Sigh one last one for the road.

You sent out invitations to respected members of the community. The issue is, you are not one.

It is unreasonable at this time to expect a detailed purpose of the council. Obviously the council is going to manage this new site. How it is done is probably going to be worked out by the council and Mesanna.

My suggestion is you have this council setup before the meeting. That gives you about 2 days to put it together.

Great suggestion. My original goal was to have it set up by Monday, but sadly responses have been slower than I had hoped.

I'm not understanding what the point of this "council" is going to be. Is it more ePrick waving? Discussing the merits of abolishing the LRC property to stimulate job creation for reagent vendors? A council with no sound backing is going to go nowhere quick.

Then why don't you use the one in Skara Brae? Now it's sounding like you're taking advantage of the history for the sake of having the modern day equivalent of a seer blessed tower dropped in Moonglow. Period.

You know what. I apologize for throwing period in there. I got a little frustrated with trying to explain that this is intended to be a community center and we do not want to call it a mage tower. I am sorry.

This tower is owned by Mesanna. It will never be owned by me or anyone else on the council.

I will now post a response using only images, like a modern interpretive dance, but with less hippies.

Maybe instead of just bitching and moaning about how much these guys failed, (when I get the impression they are only trying to help) we stop sniping each other and get to that meeting mentioned earlier and figure something out there.

Obviously nothing has been accomplished here in 7+ pages of arguing.
