|
Sadira watched as the men slowly started to take all the furniture within her home out the door. When the last man left with the very last piece, she slowly followed to the clearing they had blocked off for the burning. The light breeze blowing through her silken hair, cause a few strands to whip wildly about her eyes and face, taking hold of them, she pushes them back behind her ear.
"Burn it all, is what Prince Skyfire told us"
One man told another, seemingly the he had inquired what they were to do. Her soft green eyes gaze dreamingly at the furniture...it was their first they bought together...so many memories...the birth of Vian...the birth of Ronia...so many nights of safety she felt in that bed wrapped in his arms. She shakes her head angry at the thought that a simple stupid mirror could do all this. The men walked around secure the area, ensure the breeze would not blow any flames creating a forest fire. Sadira watched as the mage near by casted fire balls after fireballs, a bellow of smoke puffed up into the air, following by the flames. Crimson, orange, yellow with some blue flickering in the air as if dancing. As the silhouette of the fire danced about in the reflection of her eyes, a smile curled about her lips....each piece as it burned...seemingly releasing its memory....the baby beds...the changing tables...the tables from their first dinner...the bench they first sat on when he finally proposed...Zarlox was right. It is just stuff...things that can be replaced. Those that can not be replaced, are near her...with the return of one of them recently, her son. Yes, her husband was stronger than their first bout of rounds dealing with Bailos. She turned slowly the smile even wider than ever. For the first time since they left their secluded home, she felt safe. _________________ "Nature gave man two ears but only one tongue. A gentle reminder that he should listen more than he speaks." |
