High-Necromancer of Oblivion

Fifth & Final Lich Lord of the Order of the Ebon Skull
First & Greatest Among All the Undead of Sosaria

Quote:
Soke Bishimi of the Blue Lotus Clan, of the Empire of Tokuno,

A promise was offered, from your lips to the Lich Lord bound in the honour of your name & your people. You had broken this promise, reneged & discarded an oath made within the throne chamber of Charnel Hill before the appointed Ancients of the Ebon Council & The Lich Lord himself. We too, in the honour of our mighty personage, on the word of our sacred Ebon Skull offered to you a promise, a payment, in return for the price you offered & swore upon. Likewise, we told you what consequences would be necessitated at the breaking of your solemn vow of honour.

We, unlike you, dearest Bishimi are a being of honour despite what rumours are propagated against our Holy Name. As you see your people struck by sword and spell, as you see blades of grass crushed beneath the feet of foreign attackers, as you see your people know fear and feel pain know that is not the Death Knight that strikes them down with sword...it is you.

Know dearest Bishimi that all that transpires to do ill to your people & your lands you have wrought by breaking an oath, know that they suffer for your dishonesty & cowardice.

Your line, by it's very nature, so touched by Oblivion as it is cannot help but bring the forces of entropy to Zento and the Oriental Islands. Like your father before you, Oblivion's eye gazes to the Tokunese Empire and it is you dearest Bishimi who brought it.

Learn the lesson your father did, free-will in Sosaria is an illusion. It is the Lich Lord who controls the paths of the wicked and righteous.

You are truly your father's son.

We Remain,
The Lich Lord

The Soke, Half amused, half annoyed sits down and pens his reply.

For once Lich Lord I find very few untruths in your words. You are correct in that I did make arrangements with your kind. Arrangements made out of fear, fear of who I am and what my line represented to my empress. I will be the first to admit the error in my judgment and I am ashamed of it. I speak not of my dealings with you but how little I thought of my men and my empress, how I thought they would see me should my truth be revealed. That day I learned how my men saw me in their eyes.

And for this I must thank you Lich Lord, if not for you playing on said fears I would be today where I was then, wondering when I would be caught, when I would be banned from the lands I fought so hard to protect. I fear these things no more. I know my -current- men stand by my side always and will never turn from me, our clan or Tokuno. Your words may have caused one or two to stray from a path of honor but my clan always has been stronger than any one member, myself included. This is a truth you and your men will soon learn.

While my line is indeed tainted by your touch I can say that it ends with me. I have found my way, of my own accord. My path as the path of my children’s shall always be our own. You no longer have any sway over me, my children or my blood.

I must also say, until last night your men’s attacks on my land have been little more than an annoyance. I see your words of deceit have brought more to fight for you, for it was not your men’s spells and swords that bested my men and I but the superior numbers you found in the lands of BlackMarsh. How you turned what I once seen to be a force led by smart and ambitious men into grunts that simply do your bidding I cannot say but I am not surprised by it.

In the days to come Lord of Liches you will see that you have made a grave mistake bringing war to my lands. While you indeed seem to have found lackeys in the men of the Marsh the Lotus has long since found strong allies in the lands of StoneGate. Allies that will not turn tail and find new “friends” when the mood suits them but ones that will stand by us even at the worst of times. This, Lich Lord, will prove to be your downfall. For when you need them most, they will find others to support as it suits their needs.

The annoying attacks by your men, and the hired thugs of the swampy marsh. It is a pity the intellect that was once admirable within your ranks has been watered down to simple hired swords. It will all come to an end very soon, this I promise you Lord of Liches.

Soke Bishimi

Bishimi rolled up the letter and sealed it with the mark of his clan. For a moment he considered having it delivered but decided to make sure this reaches the steps of Charnell Hill himself. With that he set forth to the lands of Umbra alone.

Upon receiving the letter, Cal pens one to Bishimi

Bishimi,

So apparently all types of communication fall deaf upon your ears, so I'm hoping that perhaps your slanted eyes can absorb what I'm writing. You can chalk Blackmarsh's involvement in the slaughter of your troops last eve as us following the Lich Lord blindly if that is what it takes to inspire your men. Deep down, however, I'm sure you know the real reason. I've explained it to you.

However, since you've displayed that you have the intellectual capacity of a dead fish time and time again, I suppose I'll have to enlighten you, yet again, as to why Blackmarsh is doing what it's doing. It's because of you, Bishimi. We asked you not to send spies to Blackmarsh. But you did it anyway. We considered it an act of aggression on our lands, so we responded like any true warrior would. That is, face-to-face confrontation, and not pissing ourselves in the shadows.

I anticipate either no response to this letter, or some half-hearted "screw you Cal." Seems to be all you're capable of, anyway. But I do so enjoy being wrong every once in a while, so please, entertain me. Atleast then you'll be of some use.

Hurst

The Soke received Cal’s note and could not help but to chuckle as he penned his reply.

Hurst,
It is nice to see that your skills of communication have improved little over the past months. It makes me wonder why you are allowed to go from the Lich’s grunt swordsman to his grunt scribe. I can assure you that my “slanted eyes” have not only read but understood all of your previous correspondence. I can also assure you your words mean little if nothing to me.

You are of course more than welcome to use whatever means you need to justify your involvement with the Lich Lord, that is no concern of mine. I would be remiss to not mention how it was a result of our clan’s and its ally’s work that even allowed you to pull your meager group from out of the marsh and into your current standings in the land. You would otherwise remain a small half skilled mercenary group that got little work and made little difference in the jobs you did get.

If your involvement last night in the Orders business in Tokuno was your idea of “a face to face confrontation” then I believe you to be a far sorrier warrior then scribe. Stick to writing as it seems you can only do that with some semblance of skill and pride. Lastly, I would suggest that should any further letters reach my desk from your lands they be from someone of some importance and not simply another “warrior” in that “army”. I hold little time to deal with middle men grunts, either of Marsh or of the Order, and especially one that works for both.

A letter reaches the lands of Tokuno, bearing the seal of the Blackmarsh Empire. The note has also been mass produced by scribes and posted on Tokunan boards.

Bishimi,

Still exercising the intellectual capacity of a dead fish, I see. Yes, you were there when Blackmarsh was formed. But were you crucial? No. Neither Stonegate nor Blue Lotus were "crucial" in the formation of Blackmarsh. We very well could have done all of it on our own, as we even said in our meeting with you. In fact, this was brought up countless times by us AND you. Hell, even the opposing side recognized that we could have done it without you. But we saw how Stonegate used Blue Lotus as arrow cushions, and we thought we'd do the same with Blue Lotus and Stonegate as a whole. You make wonderful arrow catchers.

You write thoughts on paper attempting to insult the power of the Blackmarsh military and the soldiers it prides itself with, calling us half-skilled and such. Laughable, at best, seeing as how you do not posses a single soldier in your entire army who could best me alone, nevermind partaking in a small bout of skill. In the past, you won by numbers and numbers alone. Nothing more. The skill you and your men possess are lacking tremendously. Were we on good terms, I could have offered to show you how to hold a sword properly, or how to cast a spell. Nonetheless, you are left uneducated, and you will be left beaten in any confrontation you have against Blackmarsh, ESPECIALLY if the numbers are relatively even.

You speak of strength, Bishimi, but you have none of it. If you wish to prove to the world that you do not merely hide behind an army of numbers, however, then I and Blackmarsh openly invite you to a bit of a set skirmish. Your best five soldiers versus our best five soldiers. That is, unless you merely wish to run your mouth about us being weak instead, and hide behind the shadows and numbers. I understand completely if that is so.

None the less Bishimi, feign to dismiss my letters if you must, but I know that you will read this letter regardless. I know already that you will not accept my invitation of a skirmish as well, as your soldiers pale in comparison to the might of Blackmarsh.

The next letter you send to me, Bishimi, do try to send it without crying. Your tears stained some of the ink, and it was slightly more difficult to read than normal.

Cal Hurst
Warlord of Some Importance
Blackmarsh Empire

*notices the letter on his desk and begins to read. Rubs his temples as a sigh crosses his lips*

You seem to speak much Hurst, but you say little. I am almost ashamed to say that there was once a time when I looked upon you wit even a mark of respect. Needless to say those days have long since been passed. For once you stand correct in that your offer will very well be refused and I will site several reasons, although I am sure you will understand little of what I am saying.

Firstly, your horribly written letters are filled with nothing but slander and remarks that show the intelligence of a young child.

Secondly, The fact that you could not keep our correspondence between us but choose to litter my lands with your words of ignorance reinforces my first statement.

And last, the fact that the one who so adamantly spoke against those of the order and used the general hate of the lands of Umbra to progress his own needs only to side with them when he saw fit deserves no respect, not from Tokuno, StoneGate nor any other land that holds even the smallest bit of self respect.

With that said "Warlord of some importance" I think to tell you I refuse to play a part in your school yard games of insults and slander goes without saying. You wish a petty fight for pride (of which i think you hold none of) where my men and I seek to end a war with a group of significantly more importance then your own. When we are done with what really matter perhaps we shall indulge you and put your foot where it belongs.

*signed with a tear of sorrow for Cal and the men that follow him*

Soke Bishimi,

Having taken this long to respond, it can only be assumed that you took the time to discuss this with your men. I'm sure you realized that participating in such a showing of arms would leave your troops demoralized. If I had only one, maybe two, strong soldiers in my army, I'd probably decline the fight as well.

I accept your forfeit. I'm glad you know that your soldiers can't stand up to the might of Blackmarsh, and instead seek to hide behind a slew of rice shields scattered about your forces.

By the way, it's "General" now.

General Hurst
