Ishnu-alah, Lord Regent, good fortune to you,

As an elven citizen, I thank you for the generous acceptance of my kind by yours. We understand that it must not be easy to adjust to a portal to an elven city appearing in one's own back yard. The friendliness of the humans of Britannia in general has been heartwarming. Our races continue to strengthen their relations by engaging in the trade of goods every day in the Heartwood.

With this said, I unfortunately turn to a more distressing topic. Lately, there have been deeds done by elven kind that were not so noble. There was Lord Casca, who conspired with the Shadowlords to further his own power. Then there are the various kidnappings that seem to occur at regular intervals across the land at the hands of the drow elves. Lately, there is this matter of which the town criers speak, Kayla Ariesus, accused of murder. As an elf, it is very important to me that my people receive the Justice they deserve, whether they are proven guilty or found innocent. There will be no tolerance of those elves who work to cast the rest of us in their own foul light.

We elves worked diligently for a great many years to restore our connection to Britannia. We suffered much at the time of the Shattering and at times it is with melancholy that I gaze upon those of us who were left behind, cut off during that moment in history. They were left on their own, lost, to struggle with accepting the human way of life. Many of us sought to fit in and forge a new life in the Britannian fashion. Sadly, others turned to darkness and wicked doings. As with your own kind, there are always a few bad eggs that seek to ruin things for the rest. I pray that you will not hold our whole race accountable for the doings of these few elves.

I wish to take steps toward mending any negative image you may hold against my people. We were once the proud guardians of nature and balance, and I seek to reclaim our heritage. I would like to meet with you to discuss ways of improving the relations between our people, beyond the simple trading of goods.

May your troubles be diminished until next we speak,

Sylindrii Na'rea
Quel'falore of the Tel'dorei

"Greetings Sylindrii Na'rea, Quel'falore of the Tel'dorei,

It is good to finally speak with someone from Heartwood who truly seems to possess our (human) interests at heart, as well as their own. The relations of which you speak between the Yewians and yourselves have never been worse, sadly. Indeed, there are undesirable and ill-mannered knaves among both races, and we should not castigate and reject the many for the workings of the few. Unfortunately for both of us, it is nearly impossible to make any certain distinction when public sentiments and hostility are at a fever pitch among so many. In such times the innocent often suffer moreso than the guilty.

Thus we both have much work to do to restore the once solid bond between our races. For my part, I am more than willing to mend things to make that happen. I pray there are more elves in Heartwood who feel as you do. If there are, then hope remains.

I shall be administering to various affairs for the next few days which will consume much of my time. I will write back to you, sending a dinner invitation to you (and one other of your choosing) to attend when I am able to make the arrangements. Please accept this hospitality as a first step in what may be a long process for peace between our nations.

Until then,

Best Regards,

Thraxas
Lord Regent of Yew
Presidium Councilor, Maritime Union"

Ishnu-alah, Lord Regent, good fortune to you,

Thank you for your quick response to my letter, Lord Regent. Your words are tempered with wisdom and reason and hope, all of which are comforting. I look forward to both the dinner invitation and the discussion that will follow it. I, too, long for the day when our races will walk side by side once again.

May the sun guide you,

Sylindrii Na'rea
