I picked up this out of Geoffrey's war chest for completing the new Ranger Quest Pt. 2 for the third day in a row.
Not sure of the chance of drop, but I did the 3rd day on 2 characters and the other character did not get one (got a relic fragment).
EDIT:
I looked on UOGuide.com.
The only rewards listed under the Ranger Pt. 2 quest are:
a common magical item
a relic fragment (rare)
Frostguard Talisman (rare)
So unless there is more to be had that hasn't been found yet (which VERY well may be), this is the top reward for this quest.

Upstairs in Castle British from Dexter. He will send you for 4 things:
a lantern
silver sapling seed (SA tree seed)
rare serpent egg (snake nests by Medusa)
wisp orb (go to Wisp Dungeon Ilshenar, kill guardians, double click chest, get orb)
You turn those in and then Dexter will give you a Lamp of Spirituality. Equip it and go downstairs to Geoffrey, head of the guard.
Geoffrey will send you into SA to find virtue nodes and bury some gem. The Lamp of Spirituality will turn green in SA when you're on one of the spots. Each day a new spot will be added (so you can only technically do the quest once a day, per character).
I can show you the spots so far (there are 3) when you get that far. |

For the gargs...
Lens Maker East and a bit South of Tomb of the Kings entrance. He wants you to get:
Lantern
Cherry Blossom Leaf / Petal. (Isuma Shrine)
Draconic Orb (in the abyss, around the dragon area)
Some damn firebloom twig thingy (Lost Lands, Cyclopes guarding a chest with the firebloom thing)
After that, there's a guy in the gargoyle barracks that will send you into the abyss to bury a crystal.
I got two POS items and a Frostguard Talisman that I sold for 8mil (need the cash, man!)
Wife got two POS items and a relic frag.
Then the server crashed. Oops. |

I don't have any characters with music, so cant use the snake flute... it takes a long time to get anything other than snakes out of the nest for the egg component |

Its taken me about 15-20 minutes with both characters that I did the quest with. I find it is easiest to take a mage and invis by a large group of the snake nests.
Either that or if you have a stealther, walk him/her around down there. You could do it all day without being bother unless a maddening horror revealed you. |
