|
It was almost midnight, large stone creatures broke out of the rocky walls of thier valley. They leapt like gargoyles around the sleeping town. Positioning themselves at all entrances, lining up around the main buildings.
Silent sentinels to do the kings bidding. They were there to keep careful eye over the valley whilst the King, and people of Stonegate in the next 24 hours honored their day of slience.
No face was seen upon the streets, no Stoneguardian stirred from their house.
Merci herself spent the day alone in her room polishing her armour all the many peices of it. One by one methodically caring for that which shielded her constantly. Her mind filled with thoughts of all she had learned that week.
All she would learn in the days to come.
Silence... it felt good to honor them.. to mark thier sacrifice.
By midnight the next day the Sentinels were gone returning to the walls of thier rock home. _________________ May destiny guide you... |

For those outside the Meadhall there was silence. But inside the walls and up the stairs there was an array of noise. Skillets and rolling pins went flying as Livvie dove through the pantry in search of the ginger. It was part of a recipe and the fact that it was still hidden from her was driving her insane. With her head a foot and a half into the metal chest, her arms began to fling out the cheese wheels, garlic strands, the mandrake root and a host of other spices and herbs. Each plant form was followed with it's own unique string of curses. Finally, when the contents of that container had been emptied into the hallway she started on the second chest. That would have been all well and good except that the first thing her hands came across was not vegetable, mineral, or animal. It was liquid, it was in a glass bottle and it was a pinkish-purple color.
If she had been paying a little more attention to what she was flinging, she may have been able to stop the sequence of events that followed. Livvie hadn't paused when she realized it wasn't ginger. What she did instead was chuck the bottle a few inches behind her allowing it to land less than a foot away. The potion struck the second floor of the Meadhall with a following thunderclap of sound. Livvie, absorbing the majority of the explosion potion blast went flying into the pantry wall. Blackness swift, and thankfully too quick to be painful, enveloped her.

Opening her eyes slowly, Livvie put a hand to her head. The ringing and ache were palpable. Her temples to her chin felt as if she had been thrown into a wall. Pulling one leg down from its position pointing to the ceiling and the other from where it was bent beneath her, she tried to regain a sitting position. She didn't know how long she lay there. What did register was that the pantry and half of the second floor was covered in black smoke and singed to the very core of the stone and wood. "Well I'll be.....this is going to take all damn day to clean up." |
