"How much did you say?!!" Thraxas's voice betrayed his utter shock.
"46 million in gold, all in advance," came the reply. The smallish man, named Adric, seemed to shrivel under the brazen gaze of the Lord Regent. "He will accept no less," he added.
Thraxas snorted and stalked the room again.
"He *is* the best, milord," asserted Adric, hoping to take some of the edge off the conversation. He gripped the arms of his chair as if he thought his employer might suddenly decide to catapult him across the room.
They had met to discuss the fee for hiring the best prosecuting attorney in Sosaria to take the case of Yew versus Kayla Ariesus. She had been charged with complicity in murder and insurrection against the state. Thraxas wanted to be sure she would be put away for a long time and had commissioned Adric to identify and approach the best possible attorney. He had no idea of the price tag, however.
"How do you spell his name?"
"A-l-e-i-s-t-e-r F-l-a-g-g."
There was a brief pause.
"Get him," Thraxas commanded. "Yew can afford it." _________________ "If a criminal has what you want, you do business with him." |

"Yew v. Ariesus, Al." an impatient gray-haired woman of some years hands a file folder to a man in his early 40's, lounging non-chalantly against the massive wooden dias of the Trade Magistrate of Vesper. He quirks a brow, momentarily paused in his letcherous pursuit of people-watching at the Port Authority and eyes the bulky case file bound loosely in red string." He meets her eyes before casting them back to the file and accepts it dismissively. Standing, an unimposing 5'11", the litigator casts a lanky shadow which would likely be even less bulky save for his custom-tailored dark green tunic.
"Thank you, Katherine. I assume they've accepted our offer of services?" Nothing about belies his true nature, an unassuming, pasty, rail of a man, he has otherwise honed his body language to play like a chorus-line to the melody of his rationed arguments. Katherine, his assistant of some fifteen years still secretly finds his artistry at expression to be disorienting. She nods and extracts a stray memo pad and quill.
"Good. Please, if you will... are you taking this down? Respond to them with the following terms."

Aleister Flagg! That slimy fire brigade chaser! Oh my Lord British! I can't believe that old man is still around...lets hope he is as senile as he is old...
She sits in her chair squeezing the arm rests. She moves her hands to her head rubbing her temples glancing at Will.
You think Isk was good...*sighs* _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel
