The mechanical bird flits to the front steps of the largest building in Stonegate and drops a bone scroll case.

Inside is a scroll of very fine vellum sealed with red wax marked with a gear.

The scroll is written in a very light hand and elegant script.

To the Leadership of Stonegate,

I do not pretend to know the entirety of your conflict with Umbra nor do I actually care.

I have done my best to not set foot in your realm since you have made it clear citizenry of Umbra is not welcome there.

I have also done my best to encourage those who answer to me as an Ancient of the Order to not disturb Stonegate or enter its environs, if they do not have business there.

Apparently your people do not have the same respect.

The assaults on our leaders, the hiring of mercenaries to use against us, the destruction and vandalism of our facilities...all of these show a desire on your parts to extend violence and hostility from your lands. Is there any question as to why other members of the Protectorate and Sanctus consider you little more than animals?

I tire of intrusions and your people's need to go pissing on every tree to try and extend your reach. Your man's prowling around my home at late hours of the night are not appreciated or desired. His fleeing the moment my dinner guest and I moved to confront him belies sinister intents. My finding a trapped box delivered to my mailbox upon his departure raise a number of suspicions, especially considering the number of assaults and similar trapped "gifts" we have seen.

If in the bizarre off chance you man is an innocent bystander in this, and this was some clumsy attempt at diplomacy, I would suggest speaking with Lady Ariana Lenoir. You will find her to be far more accommodating and hospitable than I am.

If you have a response, simply put it in this case and set it in the snow in front of the building where this was dropped. My orthon will retrieve it and return it to me. if you have nothing to say, fire an arrow at it as it circles your skies, it will return to me.

I am not the sort to threaten, nor am I the one to start a war of words or blades. But you cannot expect these sorts of ridiculous intrusions to go unchecked.

Walk in Darkness,

Dealthagar
Herald of Oblivion, Technocrat Primus

((OOC note - my dinner guest pointed out something to me, that I misremembered a small detail. The person identified we could not identify by name - we had other means to find out where he's from, but don't know who he specifically was. I removed his name from the missive. My apologies on that oversight))

Fury gripped the Wolf King moments after the Oracle had delivered to him the message. It was a laundry list of arrogance and accusation that created a burning desire within Myrddin to slay this man.

He did not know who it was, and though he didn't really think any individual follower of Darrien to be any different from the next, they usually kept their insults for public bickering. It seemed to him that Darrien had more successfully swayed his followers than he thought.

After a few minutes of staring over the blade of the sword upon his desk, Myrddin gathered his thoughts.

****************************************************************

Herald,

Though you may care little of what I have to say, I can only assume that you would not waste your time to write this message had you not expected a response.

I am unfamiliar with your name, and this to me implies that you are a more recent participant among the followers of Darrien Church. While it may be true that you have not set foot in Stonegate and have dissuaded others from such, you and I both know that it has nothing to do with respect.

Allow me to address your points and share with you a few facts:

1) The assault on your leaders: I find this to be highly unlikely as Darrien and the leadership of Umbra are ever hiding behind locked doors. The closest to leadership I have encountered is Shalcross, and while he faces me on the battlefield I will take every opportunity to dismiss that worthless dissapointment.

Furthermore, with this letter I have attached a document: http://www.atlanticcommunityboard.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21696

Upon inspection you will see that this is a bounty notice, written by Darrien Church very shortly after his ascension to leadership in Umbra. Upon this list is my name as well as the name of another high ranking Stonegate officer. He posted bounty for my head because I refused to kneel, long before combat between Stonegate and Umbra was initiated. In this I hope you are intelligent enough to discern that it was the Lich Lord, not the Wolf King, that instigated attack on leadership.

2) The Hiring of Mercenaries: Though you may refuse to believe this out of spite, you can confirm with your leaders or Hurst himself that Darrien created a contract with the Mercenaries against us before Stonegate ever contracted the Mercenaries. As a leader with a specific purpose for hiring mercenaries, I can assure you I had a very clear ideal as to what any contract entailed and that it was paid in full. Had Umbra actually used the Mercenaries as mercenaries and respected their position, as opposing to trying to manipulate them without cost, the Mercenaries may still be aiding you against us to this day. The fact that Mercenaries defend the mountains is your failure, and leaves you no room for criticism.

3) The Destruction of your Facilities: I have no idea as to what your complaint refers. Stonegate soldiers have never been ordered to specifically target and destroy a building in the course of our battles. We have not vandalized a single structure. If you have evidence to support this I would see it or call you a liar. Even if we had, I would never order my soldiers to target buildings while there are followers of Darrien still standing. I promise you this.

You say you tire of my intrusions, my need to piss on your trees...

I fought for Umbra, I bleed for Umbra, and it was a far stronger city under my watch than you could ever hope to accomplish yourself. Until it is liberated of you I will not sacrifice even my piss on your grounds.

My soldiers do not walk your grounds, and for every second they do you deserve it. I do not know what leads you to believe that one of my men was circling your house, but traps are not my style. The day one of my men walk your grounds it will be with the axe or a sword to draw your blood.

Stonegate is a kingdom of soldiers. Not cowards. You will see us and you will know when we come.

You speak as if you are an innocent civilian. As if the actions of Stonegate are extremest and unprovoked. You accuse me of greed for power and land, as if I was motivated out of sheer arrogance to attack your people.

If you would think this you would be wrong.

Darrien ordered me to bow and threatened me with death for non compliance..and so I rode against you.

Darrien rallied the Orcs to attack us..and so we retaliated and stole them from you.

Without the strength of the Orcs you then sent your poisons, diseases, and curses..and so you are refused from out lands without permission to speak a word.

When your manipulation succeeded in swaying the Orcs again, you thought yourself clever and tried to manipulate the lotus against us too..and yet your deception was sabotaged as your soldiers fell to the snow in humiliation.

By this point the enlightened should notice a pattern.

In following Darrien, in worshiping Oblivion, in perverting Umbra - you all deserve death.

I am an animal. I am man and wolf.

It is the actions of Umbra and its foolish lord that place it upon the brink of disaster. It is your ignorance, assumption, and blind devotion to a cause that places you before my mercy.

You may dislike the course of this war but it started long before your influence.

Never again make the mistake of believing that you understand or comprehend my kingdom and the truth of its actions.

Only the strong survive,

-Myrddin Ab'Arawn
Wolf King of Stonegate

Sealing the letter in the container from Umbra, Myrddin hurled the object at the mechanical bird that was circling his skies. Half of him hoped that it knocked the thing out of the air, but the sooner it was out of his territory the better.
