Smaller taverns are worse IMO.
The same stuff happens, except every single person who talks overlaps each others text.
I like the mistas tavern a lot just because it is different than most taverns, or so I feel. _________________ "You see I can not be forsaken, because I'm not the only one. We walk amongst you, beating, r#ping, must we hide from everyone?" - Jon Davis |

no one ran it. we just showed up and RP.
There will ALWAYS, be dice spam. i would recommend to all RPers to stop reading text all the way across the room. and pay attention to your immediate conversation.
i have no sympathy for journal readers. think about how many time you say "pardon me?" or "what did you say" in real life. then think about how often you say it in game. chances are its never for a lot of people.
you can always leave. go out side like many did. hunt the juka. or talk upstairs or in the stables. lets be real. its the second time theres been a tavern night in mistas in 12 years. and it will prolly happen again. _________________

Im a big journal reader too. Couldn't really use it very well tonight. But, in regards to Cears point, I did for one of the first times..ask someone to repeat what they said, if they said anything. Went sorta like "Could you repeat what you said? I feel like you said something, but it's awfully loud." It was a hardcore convo, just someone askin me questions. I kind of enjoyed the mass chaos of it all. I RATHER it be allllll intertwined like that, instead of each guild having their own table, a couple people walking back and forth table to table etc etc. With people breaking into others conversations, it caused for more mixed RP. I really enjoyed it. _________________ Brianha ‎(10:04 PM):

Totally uncalled for. Were I a lesser person, I'd flame you for being a jackass.
I have enjoyed tavern nights immensly since I returned to the community a few months ago. i've made it a point to come to as many as i could.
Tonight was no more higher populated than it was at Blackmarsh, and i had no problem holding conversations there. Tonight it was impossible. Is it good that so many people showed up? Yes! it's awesome. Was the dice annoying as all hell? Yes. Take out the crap-ton of dice spam, and it would have been great.
When was the last time you want to a bar and the sound of dice rolling made it impossible to hold a conversation? _________________

My point is, they are all exactly the same as they were tonight. Every. Single. One. It doesn't make a difference where it is. Play Ultima, Role Play, Have fun. Or don't. There is no need to insult the location chosen by the proprietor of last night's tavern night either.
P.S, edited my post. Sorry for being crass.
EDIT: as far as the dice problem, some people enjoy playing dice in UO, and unfortunately the game mechanics of dice destroy the ability to use journal as a text crutch. There's really nothing that can be done about that. |

The problem was, there was soooo much dice rolling in there, 3d client users like myself were just innundated with text, journal or otherwise.
I mean, dice are fun i guess. But when they interrupt RP that much...it's really harmful - to me.
And thats the point i waana make - thats to me. My opinion only. Doesn't make your feelings on it invalid. We just differ on it, thats all.
I love tavern night. i hated it tonight, until the three umbrans out front lit the place on fire. that was fun to watch. _________________

I'll take my dice games to not-tavern night. If it becomes a problem mayhaps it'd be worth it to stroll over and say something to the effect of "Your game is loud, please remove it!" I was running the games of Hi/Lo, Seven Come Eleven and Bootleg 21, so I'll take responsibility here. |

There's no responsibility to take. It's a matter of one person's role play, not being someone else's cup of tea. Nothing to be done here really. It happens. Not everyone likes everyone else's role play. |

A possible fix- set aside a designated sound proof room for dice and darts.
The chaos adds realism. As Cear said, IRL you would be asking people to repeat themselves in a loud bar or club. Just pretend the music box is playing too loudly or something. |
