I work for one of the top transportation companies in the nation, at the top of the tallest tower, guarded by a dragon. The button on the elevator lists my floor as the 9th Circle of Hell (or it did till the elevator guy took my label off). I interview, do background checks, and generally dig up dirt on prospective CDL drivers - if they pass my inspection, I put them in a truck, slap 'em on the ass, and send them out into the world in hopes that they won't be the next truck driver on the news that night.
I double majored, attending Indiana University for a degree in English (concentration in writing), and also Purdue for a degree in molecular biology for bioengineering. As you can see, I put my majors to work every single day..when...I...uh....write stories on a RP forum about a character trying to re-engineer her arm by cutting her hand off. Yeah, that works.
I never technically went to school... Indiana doesn't really recognize homeschooling. So I have a GED.
Right now I work as a songwriter. I primarily ghostwrite, which means I receive no recognition or royalties, which is fine since most of my clients are rappers. I am working on getting a steady reference vocalist so that I can start shopping Pop and R&B to prospective clients and publishing companies.

You're kidding! I'm actually a senior at Indiana University, been here since I started college, and been lovin' every second of it (can't believe I'm almost done, I'm excited to get out there but I'm not ready for it to be over yet). I'm just totally confused as to why you'd choose to also go to PurDONT. I don't think there's a greater blasphemy from going to PurDONT after being at IU. ><
But yeah, that's what I do for a living... I go to school. Right now. Majoring in Journalism but not sure if I actually want to do anything with it, although I probably will. Work for my school's newspaper, possibly getting some telefund job soon, and donating plasma. And I still go broke every weekend. Awesome.

[quote="Cal Hurst"]Currently a college student, studying Marketing at UMass Dartmouth and also attempting a minor in Psychology (which is going along much easier than my major, and I'm enjoying it more, go figure). However, if the economy still blows when I get out and I can't seem to find a job, I'm already planning on taking EMT/Paramedic classes, following it up with Firefighter classes. Yes, I want to run into burning buildings.
I've had a number of jobs in the past, but enjoyed one in particular, for all the wrong reasons. 1 Hour Photo.
MY GOD PEOPLE! REMEMBER! WE HAVE TO LOOK AT YOUR PICTURES! If any of you still use the 1 Hour Photo service, for the love of God, please think before you drop off your camera. I have seen far too many manparts in my time there, because people think it's a good idea to take pictures of their lances and drop it off to get developed. But hey, the females do it too. Plenty of boob shots as well. That part was awesome for me, I was like 15. BUT! Aside from that, I've seen autopsies, car crashes, train wrecks, broken bones, and other assorted injuries. However, the following picture will always be burned into my mind.
Imagine this: A grassy area with only trees in a distant background. The sun is setting on the horizon, causing the sky to be a dark red color. Not a cloud in the sky. In the middle of the picture, a cross. On that cross, is a slaughtered goat. AND IT'S ON FIRE. Yeah. Never gonna leave my brain.[/quote
I started off reading this all hot and bothered thinking about firemen and ended it deeply disturbed. I dont think it helps that goats are my favorite animal.
Thanks a lot, Uncle Jesse.
I'm a Broadband technician i do all types of telecommunications. Working threw the NCTI courses and tests to become a repair/maintenance tech. ATM i am a contractor for comcast for the money hoping to get a job with them as a repair tech within the next 6 -8 months. not much to say about it really i work on cable HSD and telephones, installing trouble shooting, and repairing. I Used to be a chef for a bunch of restaurants until i had kids and got married and those hours just no longer worked. I have also done commercial alarm systems, pre wire low voltage electric, and pre wire phone systems. I actually like commercial better than in house but they want more experience in most fields than what i have. For the most part i am just trying to work my way threw the ranks and learn as much as i can about the field so that i can open my own company in the future.

I would recommend against doing that becauuuuuse..
I am an EMT and a firefighter. The work sucks, you smell poo too often, and noone thanks you for anything that you do.

I am a Long Term Occasional (LTO) teacher for a catholic school board in southern ontario. I teach every subject to a grade seven class aside for French which is taught by a separate teacher. It is a one year contract at the end of which I go back to supply teaching unless I can find and get hired for another LTO. It is stressful at times but the money is good and the summers are off so I can't complain.
