Alright... so when I named Ariana's brat... I must have miscounted the letters as "Catherine Skyfire" doesn't fit... by one $&*!@&$! letter.

So... I have a couple choices and I'd like feedback...

Choice #1 ... Find a IC reason to change the first name. I chose Catherine as it is Ariana's middle name as well as an important relative from the family tree. Her name has been spoken often in-character and there are quite a few who know her name in-game. I'd really hate to have to change her name based on an ooc reason. I really don't like this idea as I really hate ooc dictating ic, even in situations that are out of my control.

Choice #2 ... Lose the "Skyfire" bit for the in-game creation and have her just be "Catherine". I hate to do that as I like my characters having last names visible in-game even if it is ooc mechanic.

Choice #3 ... Shorten the name to "Catherne Skyfire" for the in-game mechanics and still have it be ic "Catherine Skyfire" and hope folks don't get massively confused. I know the floating name is ooc anyways, but still.

Choice #4 (Only included because Adonias recommended it and it is so not a real possibility)... "Kill the child... problem solved."

I'm open to any other ideas. I suppose no matter what I do its not gonna be perfect and I know its my fault for miscounting. *mutters*

A name change token sometimes works for getting that last character in that the character creation screen doesn't allow. It's expensive but it may be a solution.

Change the spelling, but the pronunciation is still the same. Kathryn Skyfire is shorter by one letter, but it's still the same name.

Oh my god, really? I'll so do that if it works. I don't care about the gold. I'll go test it! *drags a character to Luna to go look for a name change token*

*squeals in delight* Looks like it'll work. At least in the box it lets me type out the full name.

Thank you! Thank you! *bows before Halister*

I'll post when I do it to confirm absolutely that it does indeed still work so other folks will know!

Catrin or Katryn also sounds the same they are all alternate spellings for Katherine. Different ways of spelling it in england/ireland/scotland.

FYI, finally had the chance to use the token. Although it does allow you to type a longer name, when you go to confirm it won't let you and keeps you held to the 16 character limit... so it will not work. Unless a miracle occurs, I'm going to have to keep her name as the alternate spelling.

Thanks -so- much to everyone for their help, advice and opinions. I really, really do appreciate it

Call her Kitty.

But on the hand, as the RL father of a Kathryn I might be biased to this spelling.

(and no, naming her has NOTHING to do with Captain Kathryn Janeway of the USS Voyager. Nor has naming my son Julian anything to do with Dr. Julian Bashir of Deep Space Nine. Totally concidence! Just as my sons middle name is Alexander and Dr. Julian Bashir was played by Alexander Siddig. TOTALLY concidence)

As the father of Raistlin, I understand. it's a old European name, and has nothing to do with any fictional books. Honestly.

Good suggestions. I have her currently named "Cathryn Skyfire" ... It may have to be stuck with that unless a miracle occurs. My own fault for obviously being unable to count. *grumbles*
