So is this game any good? I tried to do the open beta but it was taking like 20 years to download the client and I kept randomly getting disconnected and then I'd have to start all over.

Yes, Aion...

I was not expecting to like the game at all. I tried it on a total whim, and as a general rule stay away from Asian Influence MMOs. But quite honestly the game is amazing, Total Character customization... as in more customization than any game I have seen, MMO or Single player. Housing is coming but may be for Legions/Guilds only it is an unknown right now.

The game is pretty, the character system is both basic and nice...

It feels like UO did to me in 1997, honestly.

A lot of reviewers outright say it is very similar to WoW. In fact, the interface in the screenshot you posted is strikingly similar.

The art looks very similar to Guildwars in that screenshot. I love how pretty guildwars is.

You mean EQ. Since WoW's interface was nearly stolen from EQ if I remember correctly. So Aion's interface is like EQ's.

That is also the modified version of the UI, I actually modded it a bit to be more WoW like...

EQ actually had a very different interface... at least at first it did, when I played (for like a grand total of 4 days, if even that). All the hotkeys were these big ol' squares to the right and left or whatever. But yeah, I guess EQ did sort of set the standard for MMO's and WoW perfected it (sorry, the success is proof), with the help of DAoC, which I actually really enjoyed for awhile back in the day.

This game does seem just like WoW however. The only thing that they seem to stress that's so different about this game is that your character can get wings and fly. I like WoW, so I'll probably try this game out once I get a computer that can handle it (which probably won't be for a long time), even though the majority of Asian MMO's are garbage.
