A wolf arrives for Orelen Reaucher General of the Protectorate.....

General Reaucher,

It has come to my attention that the Orcs, have returned to Darriens fold. This is a sad day for Stonegate as we counted them as friends. However they have we think been some how cursed or hexed? We are not sure but even some of the Orcs are mystified, why one day they disliked the Lich and now today they fight for him. It is perplexing. While Stonegate does not wish to turn our back upon our friends, the Orcs, indeed we seek to break the spell if there is one, we will have to settle in the fact that for now, they are, Darriens fighters. If they take agressive action towards us we will follow suit. This understood, we must do what we have to.

It is with heavy heart that I write such, but Oblivion is a very real threat upon these lands. I have had a vision of total destruction and annihilation of all creatures. Not just lightbringers but any man or creature. As once the Matriarch of Umbra, I know the plans of Oblivion, aye at one time we even road with them, foolishly, once we realized we were nothing more than meatshields and end to their goals, that Oblivion will not allow free will, and free choice,we left. While Stonegate will fight alongside an Ally we do not fight for them..

Let me state that while we are very different here in Stonegate while we welcome those shunned by most groups, vampires, undead, lycans, drow, elves and humans. We are still loyal unto our own, we still wish to seek freedom and strength for our kind. We will not be harnessed like dogs. I feel this is a goal most any being can appreciate.

We must meet and speak more.

Merci d'Rue
Oracle of Stonegate

Orelen watched the wolf cautiously as it approached. It was not common for a wolf to approach a man, least it were rabid, and they were always formidable. He palmed a throwing knife from his belt and squared himself, as the wolf grew near.

It was only when he was about to strike did he notice the nature of this creature. "A courier...?" He slipped the dagger away and knelt down with a piece of jerky extended to the animal, he traded the meat for the letter and set to reading.

He penned a quick response in charcoal, having no pen nearby.

Lady Merci d'Rue,

Allow me to apologize forwardly for the unclean nature of this note, you caught me on a trek through the forest and I am lacking the amenities of an office.

Grave news indeed of which you write, as I was afraid Church would not allow his calvary to abandon him uncontested. The members of the Protectorate will be less empathetic to the position in which the orcs stand, however.

I will do my best to stay my hand while you attempt to clear whatever spell Church holds over these once turned allies, however, we will defend ourselves, as you so say.

As per your premonition, I am certain I lack the same gift of foresight, though it takes little evidence to see Oblivion's true goal... the end of life. I will meet with you soon as possible regarding these developments.

It's a day's venture in for me, expect me no later than Thursday.

Sincerely,
Detective Orelen Reaucher,
General of the Protectorate Armed Forces,
Collective Sosaria.

He folded the note off, carefully, as to not smear the charcoal, and tied it to the wolf's paw. Offering the creature another cut of meat, he sent it off to return to the Oracle.
