Morio stood on top of his usual spot on the Cove gate, the wind in his hair, the maddness of his anger left him and he was his usual self.
wanting a break from his armour he just wore a pair of long pants, nothing on top barring his quiver, his crossbow hanging from a sling on his leg.
Decending down into Cove he picked up a smell that he had now come to dread, the owner of this scent was the one responsible for his anger maddness...
Following the Scent lead him to the Harbour when the owner was ingaged in conversation with one of the fishermen....
"I mean..." Cezanne said then paused before speaking again,
"If the fish doesn't want to be caught he won't bite aye?"
Morio stood there with his arms folden it looked like she didn't know he was there then an idea rushed through his head and he inwardly chuckled...
"You have a good point, but I believe the fish knows there is a hook inside..." Cezanne was still trying to make her point,
"that's all I'm saying."
"Learning new skills..." Morio spoke calmly, inwardly laughing at the double meaning
"Walk away." As the man she was speaking to walked off and she noticed Morio at last the feel from her emotions changed in that instant.
"that's... Me?" Cezanne spluttered
"Hai..."
"Oh, no. I'm debating with Austin the fish's sense of identity crisis. I believe the fish are suicidal, whereas Austin believes it's just dumb luck." Cezanne said,
"Interesting...." Morio's replied,
A few rats could been seen along the harbout, one had gotten very close to Cezanne's feet which she nudged away.
"Aye."
"You....look... different." Cezanne said failing to keep her emotions in check.
"I do not live... sleep or eat in armour all the time..." Morio said in his usual dead pan way.
"Oh, of course not.... I wouldn't expect you to.... So what are your thoughts on the fish?" She said trying to change the subject.
The rat had walked past Cezanne feet again, again she nudged it with her foot to move it along.
"I do not like them..." Again speaking calmly.
"Nay? Hm. I thought Kitsune ate meat...." She spoke. "Not a fan of fish then?"
Morio spots a Rat near his foot and looks upon it, drawing in his magics he took from a list of the spell he could perform and selected one, starting to cast.
"In Sar"
The rat at this point must have senced danger as it fan as fast as its little legs could take it, Strifing all the while. Morio had finished the casting and took aim and released the magic......
It missed its mark.
"Missed..." Was all Morio said, no emotion in his voice.
Cezanne just chuckled as the rat that had been annoying her came up past her again, she aims a kick at it, the rat is sent a couple of feet up the harbour, but this time she is casting her own spell.
"Kal Vas Flam!" With the magic released the stunned rat is quickly roasted and is just a pile of ash on the scarred wood of the harbour. She then sighs.
"Vermin. It bit my sandal."
Morio just nodded in understanding.
"What brings you to the docks this eve? Going for a sail?" She carried on.
"I smelt your scent... and came to investigate..." Morio replied.
"Oh." Cezanne said as she started to smell herself,
Morio on the other hand wasn't paying much attention to Cezanne as he spotted the rat that evaded him and called forth on his magic again, and started Casting.
"In Sar."
This time the magic hit the mark and the rat died with a very painful squeek.
"Got it this time..." Morio spoke, a little satisfied.
"Perhaps I should go bathe... I hadn't realized my scent drifted so far." Cezanne said,
"I have a very keen sence of smell..."
"Ah, of course...." as understanding dawns on Cezanne, so she starts to fidgets with her glove before speaking again, "Well, I won't say I'm not glad to see you...But merely surprised you came near me."
"As I said... I cam to investigate..." Morio replied
Cezanne nodded and spoke, "Well as long as debating the suicidal tendencies of fish isn't a crime... I think it's safe to say your job is done." She finishes with a smile.
"Hai..."
"Whatever will you do with all your spare time?" She asked,
"How is Ranna?..." Morio asked ignoring her question.
"Quite well, I've put a standing harp in her room. She has an affinity for music." Cezanne starts to scratch the back of her neck
"aaand plants." She finished.
"Why plants?..."
"She showed me how she grows them. Like you, and your bonsai.... Quite remarkable, Ranna."
"Innocent at times..." Was Morio's answer.
"At times?" Cezanne questioned
"Hai..."
"She seems perfectly well-behaved so far. Other than the occasional....every few minutes...mention of boys. You may have to lock her in a tower yet." Cezanne spoke.
Morio starts to fiddle with his own golden Kitsune ball before replying, "I suspect as much..."
"So..you make patrols... dressed like..."
Cezanne was trying very hard not to stare at Morio's naked chest.
"Sometimes with less..."
The sound from that made Cezanne to swollow that even a human cound have heard it,
"I see... or rather would like... err...."
Cezanne is fight very hard with her emotions and at this point the very thoughts that are coursing through her, she shakes her head as to clear way the thoughts.
"Where are your furry friends? The robed one that called me ugly. I didn't quite catch his name." Cezanne rallied and said,
"My wife.... I do not know... I would love to know where she went..." Morio spoke calmly.
"Off shopping perhaps? In Zento?" Cezanne suggested.
"Arakad has gone back to traveling again..." Morio carried on.
Cezanne just nodded, and then spoke, "So you're alone this night....." Shaking her head again as if that will work to get rid of the thoughts she is thinking.
"Hai.... it seems that way..." Was all morio could say to that.
"You should not spend too much time alone. It's bad for the mood. Hot out this evening though... I don't blame you for stalking the streets half-naked."
"I haven't noticed the heat as such..."
Cezanne starts to unbutton her doublet, fanning her face with one lapel. Then she spoke, "No? How can you not notice it? It's sweltering, of late."
"I am used to worse..." Was morio reply, again calm and in control.
Cezanne slips her doublet off, folds it in half, and slides it into her pack.
Morio Continued, "long fur coat... and deserts... do not go well..."
Cezanne nodded and said, "I can only imagine, though the fur would likely help shield you from the sun."
Morio replies, "Sometimes... others it just makes one hot and sweaty..."
Cezanne smirks then says, "That's not an altogether unpleasant image."
Morio just made a noncommental sound.
"Oh... I'm sorry, rather forward of me." Cezanne said.
Morio finally replied, "It would have to depend on the situation..."
The atmosphere was feeling more and more charged in each pasing moment, instead of letting the energy go to waste Morio opened up and feed from the emotions in the air.
Cezanne Said, "You have to keep in mind my tendencies to let my mind wander where you are concerned..." the she sighs and speaks again, "I wish it weren't so."
Morio Said, "Completely understandable..."
Cezanne nods slightly, narrowing her eyes suspiciously, Morio understood the look and carried on to explain.
"I feel emotions from those around me..."
Understanding gripped Cezanne, "Ah..." Has she blushes a deep shade of crimson, then spoke, "Just happiness and sadness?"
Morio cut her off, "All emotions..."
"or... Oh."
Cezanne inhales slowly and sighs, then says, "I'm sorry then... The feelings I must bombard you with... And yet you linger."
"It is not a problem... Cove is small... In Britain it would be more... overwheling..."
Cezanne smiles and says, "Well true.... Do you have the ability to see what others are thinking as well? Or just feel their emotions?"
"Just emotions..." Morio syas,
Cezanne nods, looking noticeably relieved, at this point Morio stretches his arms.
"I'm afraid the mental pictures I get of you sometimes might frighten you."
"I doubt that..." Morio replied.
"Won't Haydn be upset that you're spending so much time speaking with me?" Cezanne said the continued, "She told me to stay away from you after all."
"It is just talking..." Morio said then spoke, "Well... hai she did... but last eve she said she was leaving..."
Cezanne nodded and asked, "When is she returning?"
Morio replied, "I think it is more the forever kind of leaving..."
"Oh...No, Morio... She couldn't leave you forever. You are bonded!"
Morio spoke, every word calm and it was if it didn't matter. "That was the impression I got..."
Cezanne shakes her head, then replied, "How can a woman give her word to a man..forever.... and then leave?"
"I do not know..."
Cezanne said, "How could she not love you with every fibre of her being?" Then she sighs, "I am very sorry to hear that."
"Domo..." Morio felt the smuggness radiating from her.
"If there is ever anything I can do to help you... I know I'm only a twoleg...one you don't quite trust at that.... But I'd do anything for you..."
Morio thinks about it for a moment, wondering how far he should take this game, to what level will it end at... he then says.
"What do you mean... by anything?... I have met humans before that say that but bualk..."
"Anything within my power...." Cezanne protests, "If I can possibly do it."
"Mmm... Kitsune don't normally ask for favors..."
"Of course not. I offer freely that which I can give." Cezanne said,
"What do you wish to give?..."
Cezanne blushes unexpectedly, a most deeper shade of red and stammers, "I ahh...Mm.... I... You... anything... I would help you..."
"Anything is far to broad a critria..."
She rallies, "You know my desires, Morio, you can feel them as easily as I can, I'd imagine.... I want you to be happy..... I want to love you for the rest of my days... But beyond that..."
Morio takes a step forward
Cezanne still contunes to say, "If there is any task to the world's end... I would try to accomplish it, for you..."
"Would you?..." As Morio takes another step forward, closer to Cezanne, she swollows again that it is so loud in Morio's ears and nods.
"Truely?...."
"If...ye wished it..." Cezanne says with desire,
Morio takes that one last step so they are standing face to face, Cezanne is left there struggling stand, her emotions are running her wild to a near dizzy state.
Morio whispers, "What I desire...."
Cezanne leans in, inhaling his scent without thinking, saying, "What is it Love?"
Morio Whispers even more slowly the before, dragging out each word, "What I desire.... more then anything...." He then strokes a finger down her cheek, sending her mind into a scattered mess, feeding from her more completely now. Cezanne closes her eyes and sighs shakily.
Morio leans in and stops just before touching her lips and whispers* More... then anything... else...."
Cezanne leans in subconsciously, nearly brushing her forehead against his cheek and whispers in his ear, "Ask and it is yours...."
Morio turns and closes the distance between them and his lips brush against hers, Cezanne leans passionately into the kiss, parting his lips with her tongue, She then stiffens instantly, eyes flying open wide. Morio pulls back and says, "That seems to have done it..."
Cezanne looks, bewildered into Morio's eyes, and speaks. "What.....just,"
Morio steps back, Leaving Cezanne to sway slightly then speaks.
"Do you remember everything?..."
Cenzanne says "You were my..." She then blinks hot tears way. The nods slightly... speaking, "Morio... Forgive me.. Please"
"You are forgiven... you was under a curse..." Morio said solemly
Cezanne the takes out two golden balls, one larger than the other, saying, "Please," As she holds them out, Morio takes the balls carefully out of her hands, saying.
"So that is how.... clever..."
Cezanne sobs fitfully and collapses to her knees and says, "They are at the theatre... They are safe...."
Morio pockets the two kitsune balls While Cezanne is still speaking, "I....love you enough not to hurt them..."
"Hai.... I know..."
"I do.....somehow...somewhere... Not as I had thought... but I do. Please don't hate me?" She asks pleedingly,
"I do not hate..."
"Who have I become.... I'm not myself anymore." Cezanne says.
Morio says wisely, "Love is a very damaging emotion..."
"Love.... Valentein???, Where is Valentein?? He'll never forgive me."
"Who is Valentein?..."
Cezanne says,"He is my one... My life." Morio nodded when she says, "I was protecting him when..." She pauses and then takes out a letter, she reads it then says, "He left to find his sister. I have to find him. Please....get your loved ones."
"Then be reunited with him... find solace in his arms..."
Cezanne says, "I will stay out of your way...... If he will forgive me.... Be safe, Morio....."
"And yourself..." Morio replies.
"Please, tell Haydn and Ranna...." Cezanne says, tears running down her face.
"I will..."
Cezanne chokes on a sob, he face looking paniced, "I must go! Goodbye Morio."
And with that She left the harbour and Cove, True to her word Morio didn't scent Cezanne there at the theatre as he walked up the steps to collect his family.... _________________ cezanna "No, he is a fair and faithful man, Ranna"

Morio’s scent was dizzying. He was so close now that Cezanne could have touched him. But she didn’t dare. It was a trick, and she knew that if she gave in to her desires, he would crush her. She closed her eyes and swallowed hard.
“What I desire…” he began, then trailed off.
Cezanne spoke without thinking. “What is it Love?”
Morio trailed a finger down her cheek, leaving a white-hot trail across her flesh. Cezanne shuddered. Thoughts of a ruse had fled from her mind, and she could think of nothing else but his lips, so close to hers that his breath was warm against her skin. Morio began anew, “What I desire…more than anything else…”
Flames seemed to enshroud Cezanne’s mind. Her prize, the one thing she wanted most in the world, was within reach. She leaned in, her forehead nearly resting against his cheek, her arms willed to remain at her sides, for fear that her hands would seek to hold him, to possess him completely. Just to touch him might be more than she could stand. Finally, she found her words and whispered them softly into his ear. “Ask, and it is yours.”
Morio leaned in, his lips brushing across her own. Instinct took hold, as Cezanne’s hands sought his body, holding him closer. She kissed him passionately, tasting his mouth for a moment…and then the flames were gone.
What am I doing? Why…Cezanne’s eyes flew wide open with realization as cold and piercing as a dagger in her heart.
Morio pulled away, speaking without emotion. “That seems to have done it.”
Everything hopeful and loving in her heart was ripped from her in that instant. For a moment that seemed like an eternity, she felt nothing at all. Only emptiness. She looked into Morio’s eyes as the memories of what she had done began to permeate her mind. What have I become?
She heard a myriad of apologies spilling forth from her lips, her heart still bleeding from the loss of love and warmth that she had felt just a few moments before. She fumbled to rid herself of the two brilliant gold balls, to give them to Morio, so that he could find his family and flee with them from their prison.
She thought of the poor gentle sparrow, whose neck she had snapped, tossing aside his broken body. All because she feared he had failed to deliver a message.
It was all more than she could take. Sobs wracked her body as she collapsed to her knees. And Valen…could he ever forgive her, even if she could find him?
The emptiness quickly filled with sorrow and hatred for what she had become. Cezanne willed herself to her feet, bade Morio to find his family, and ran. Simply ran. Her home was a prison now, her hands filled with betrayal. Even her lips, those which had always loathed untruth, had belied her heart. Or had they?
Darkness closed in around Cezanne’s heart and mind as she fled the gates of Cove. In the space between her soul and flesh, love had wrenched itself free of her grasp, and madness began to descend. |
