The sound of the horse hooves coupled by the growl coming from the polar bear was filling Merci's senses, blood lust was in her eyes. She saw only Jase, she saw only Shalcross, she saw only Traitors. Stonegate was tight they moved as one together. She could see and here the blades of Lestat and Myr cutting thru the attackers. Merci healed a wound here and swung her blade quickly in tandem, Willow, Crickette and the rest of their family, this is how it was all meant to be.
Stonegate cared little about the Orcs, and the Drow unfortunate that they were suckered in to help Darrien. What she cared about was simple. Triators, Retribution for thier crimes against Umbra. The betrayal of the Matriarch and the elders of Umbra. They deserved nothing but death final death. Perhaps that was something that would not be seen today but they did fall...
Destiny calls us and here Destiny demanded they pay for their crimes against their own.
*****************************************************************************************************
The deal was made, Stonegate had just grown stronger this eve, and she was proud. She kneeled before the Stone her heart pounding with adrenaline still and her head tilted up. From her throat a new song emerged crying out filling the hall in echoes the mountains carrying her song to the ears of the wolves filling their hearts with swelling song.
They could deny her tale not and so it spread once more echoing to group upon group until the time came that its tale was told.
Beware the wolf, for her will is strong and she will not rest till her prey is caught. _________________ May destiny guide you... |

Drayden was on his regular patrol around the Quarter that evening when it struck him. There was an eerie silence across Umbra. Down the hill, he could see some of the Lich's military gathering. Despite his disagreement with the Matron's cooperation with the Lich Lord, he turned his armored dragon mount towards the West bridge and started towards the gathering. His body was aching from his intense training earlier in the day.His head throbbed from some illness that he assumed his Queen had gifted him with. A sickening feeling had been running through him all day since his conversation with the Goddess. Drayden didn't plan on making that mistake again.
Vhid moved at a steady pace towards the formation, thankfully it knew the way. Drayden leaned over the side of his saddle, letting his lunch go, though that did little to help him feel better. It was time to get this over with. Ugh.I have to fight a battle in this condition? It's going to be a long night....
It was time to get this over with.
He reached the bridge not a few minutes later. His head roaring with pain, his body hurting as if poison were burning his veins. He closed his eyes and tried to force the sickness from his mind. Tried to find the strength within to get through the evening. There was quite the crowd gathering her. Orcs, Undead, humans....though he was the only Drow. After a briefing from the Warlord named Shalcross, they began their march west to see what the Umbran scouts had been reporting for themselves. They reached the cave not too long later and made their way inside. They stopped at the edge of a bridge a point that Bailos said, "This is the edge of our border...we should stay behind here if we don't want to appear agressive."
Drayden looked over to Bailos, "Agressive? How many times have they stormed into our territory and given us no such courtesy? I will go ahead and watch them, get some idea of this army that is gathering. Bailos nodded to Drayden and sent him on his way.
The drow melted into the shadows and moved through the tunnel. He had walked this path before, thought not in such secrecy with a group of militants behind him. He made not a sound as he slowly crept alongside the large building that the Sanctans had named as their headquarters. There was a large mass of troops here. He could recognize the uniforms of Moonglow, several of the Lotus Clan, the Sanctan Military and...
Drayden took a knee as he scanned the gathering of soldiers off to the side...
Stonegate? Perhaps they came seeking vengeance....best avoid them if the fight comes. His eyes moved over each of the soldiers and they fell on a familiar face. Curses, Merci is here. He frowned, such irony that they were on the opposing sides of battle. That wouldn't last forever he hoped. He took his count and quickly made his way back to Bailos and the others. "We're vastly outnumbered in this, we need to leave. Now." As he finished reporting his findings to Bailos, he looked behind him, he could hear the hoofbeats of heavily armed soldiers. Its too late now....
The group moved back over the bridge and took their positions in the cave. The orcs were ready, he was ready, the undead were ready for the horribly unbalanced fight that lay before them. There would be blood spilt this day...and he highly doubted they would stop this large group. It seemed as if the whole world were storming down on them. Drayden tense as a spasm of pain wracked his body. He slipped into the shadows then, the sounds of the coming battle growing louder and louder. |
