Lydia d'Rue held the little girls hand firmly, she was five and quite the burden. Anastasia come along then now we havent time for the festival.

Oh mama i never get to have any fun. Lydia paused, it was true, Anastasia was always nose to the grindstone. Yet there were reasons for this. She softened a bit. Alright, we can go see one of the acts at the festival.

The little girl gave out a rare smile.

The man was dressed all in black with a grand cape and top hat, Anastasia was in awe she stared long and hard watching as he made small objects dissapear. He saw the little blond headed girl peering over the stage at him. I am going to need a volunteer from the audience.. He looked down. She lifted her hand solemnly and he nodded.

Come up miss and tell them all our name. She clutched her toy sword as she walked stiffly on the stage. Merci Anastasia d'Rue. He asked her to pick a card and when he pulled that self same card out of from behind her ear moments later she was amazed.....

The same Magician was at the festival this year, but a bit older looking his hair had grayed some. Merci was wiser now at the age of ten, and new that most of what he did was trickery. Yet she locked it all in her mind..she held it close, she was going to be somewhat of a magician herself one day.
