this was done on Eur with great success and I was wondering if people would like to do it here? how it works is that it takes place every 6 months irl time with who ever who the last one hosting the next and so on... this is a schedual from the last one on eur

Monday :
The Olympic Ceremony

Tuesday :
Single combat
A tournament to find the greatest fighter in Sosaria! Contestants may be of any chosen speciality, although please be aware that hiding will be impossible due to the open nature of the arena.

Wednesday :
Archery
Contestants will fire five arrows at a butte at the regulation distance. Two archers will compete side by side, with the higher scoring of each pair progressing to the next round until we are left with one final winner.

Side event - Darts
For those not so skilled with a bow, we have the arrow's little brother! Rules will be much the same as with archery.

Thursday :
Wrestling
Fighting with swords and armour is one thing, but this event will prove who is truly the greatest natural fighting machine! Two contestants will enter the right unarmoured, and will fight with their bare hands for three rounds of one minute. The winner of each round will be decided by a panel of judges. The contestant who is agreed to have won two of the three rounds will progress to fight again, until only one is left.

Side event - Summoning Contest
An event from last years games - Two mages will stand facing each other, and will cast the spell 'Summon Creature'. The two creatures will then fight to the death. The owner of the winning creature progresses to the next round.

Friday :
Foot Race
Contestants will race on the road from Mount Kendall to the swaggers. The first to arrive will be declared the winner.

Side event - Dragon Fights
Only for the brave of heart - Warriors will enter the arena where they shall meet and fight a fully grown dragon! Anyone successfully vanquishing the beast shall win a cash prize!

Saturday :
Horse Race
The best riders in Sosaria shall race on a track from Vesper to Yew, in a symbol of the unity that the Olympics bring.

Side event - Scavenger hunt
Contestants will be given a list of items, and a short ammount of time in which to gather them! The winner will be the first contestant will a completed collection, or the person with the most items.

Sunday :
The Gauntlet
Contestants will have to make their way down a tunnel manned by threeof the fiercist, but unarmoured, warriors that Sosaria has to offer. They will have two minutes to defeat each fighter in turn and make it to the finish line. They may not pass a fighter until he has been defeated. Players will score points depending on how many seconds remain until the time limit. The player with the greatest time remaining will be the winner! If no contestant makes it through, the judges will decide on who they felt did best.

Side event - Orienteering
Players will be given a map and sextant, and told to find a certain place in the wilderness. There they will be given another map, and so on until the finish line. The first person to reach the finish having been to all the points will win a prize!

Monday :
Jousting
A classic event from antiquity. Riders charge at eachother holding lances, and attepmt to dismount their opponent. The winner of each round will be decided by a best of three contest, with the winner progressing.

Side event - Joke contest
Players will take turns telling a joke to the audience, who will decide who of each pair was the funniest. That person then progresses to tell another joke against a seperate person until we are left with the funniest sosarian!

Tuesday :
Team Combat
Each nation will be allowed to put forward one team of three fighters. These teams will fight together against other teams in a tournament. As before, all specialisations are allowed.

Wednesday :
Sailing
Sailors will sail small boats around the waterways of Vesper. The first to complete the course wins... practice in blocking is recommended as the course it quite cramped!

Thursday :
Weight lifting
Contestants will have to lift crates of increasing weights and walk around a small track. If a person is unable to walk the track in the set time, he will be eliminated. The weights will continue to increase until one person is left.

Side event - Lucky Crates
A number of crates will be laid out - some will contain prizes, some nothing, and some will be trapped! Players will get one chance to chop up a crate, and get to keep whatever they find inside!

Friday :
Closing ceremony
The winners of each event will be given their medals and prizes, as well as special prizes for the winning nation. Local entertainers will be giving performances to entertain all who come!

free free to comment, I know it will take a shed load of organising, but it can be done!

Morio, this is probably the best idea for an event I've seen in a long time. It looks like it could have a little of everything and we can definitely add a bit of atlantic flavor to it.

I totally agree, I mean it was created for eur, with the core rules on gm armour and stuff, atl has alot more scope to play around and change stuff with... but i absolute fave event in that list is the mage summon contest, I was wetting myself just watching it, and i know it is an ample oppertunity for a guild or two to make a killing in sports bets *Grins*

Anything I can win money on is fine by me, and anything that prompts roleplay oughtta be fine by everyone. Looking forward to seeing an Atlantic version of this happen.

heehee thanks, i have been doing some work on the rules for the events, that i can handle but it won't be for another two months at least, purely for the fact that next month i will be recovering the worst of the effects of treatment, and secondly, and this is all depending on my health the second month will be ironing out things, since it will be the first olympic on this shard my main idea was to not have it strictly one place, as have an event in every town and player run settlement, not only will this show case the community but it will be ideal to use the npc stuff. eg for the archery competition have that in skara, since skara has a noble history for its archers and rangers, also Shamino is associated with Skara, (remember Shamino's best bow which can be got from heritage tokens)...

like i said i would like it to have an event in all the major towns and cities, and that second month will be organising treaties and the like... *Eyes Ceinwyn* or bribes and sacrifices to allow it to happen in that city.

the major thing with this is that one player can't do it all... so any volunteers with this will be a help since the chara i am making for this (Lets face it Morio will most definatly won't be interested in running this and I know Ceinwyn wouldn't allow him either) can't be in every place at once when it gets in full swing... i will leave my q number here 562452997, please do bare in mind that i live in the uk and am 5 hours ahead of EST, 8 hours for pacific etc...
