Hey, so I used to play UO here on the Atlantic server back around 1999. I was big into the RP scene back then, I remember the player towns of Rivendell and Caina, all that good stuff. Recently I got hit by nostalgia so I decided to roll a trial account and see if people were still roleplaying around here.

The forums are obviously evidence that people are, but I haven't been able to find them in game. So I've put together a list of questions that, hopefully, someone will be kind enough to answer for me.

-Are there any player-made towns anywhere?
-What are the big guilds these days? Do they have websites?
-Where do people tend to hang out?
-Are there any big names/movers and shakers?
-Most important one for me: Are there any predominantly "evil" organizations, guilds, factions, or just notable characters currently at work?
-Also, anything else I should know?

Good to see you back Az. I too recently returned a few months ago.

If you're interested in the evil side of things the Drow have been busy. The Cappadocian Vampire clan is also "evil". Both of us been fighting a war with Sanctus (the good guys) for a while now. Theres lots of trouble to get into nowadays. If you're up for some RP or need some guidance, just drop me and ICQ or PM me. I've got some interesting plots churning right now and I'm looking for some more good minds.

Welcome back, dark one. Everyone has pretty much spoken up a bit hehe. As far as things go, the Regency still exists, though under a different name - The Protectorate. It meets in Britain now. Sanctus is still around, so is House Gauntlet and House Isk.

As far as neutral guilds- Blue Lotus seems to be neutral, they operate in Zento, Tokuno, on Makoto Island. Triad, a merc/profit guild is a member of Protectorate.

Evil guilds- Cappadocian Vampire Clan, based in Minoc, Giovanni Vampire Clan, based in Serpent's Hold, Zog Cabal, as Cear said, based in player town of Blackrock on fel fire island. Realm of Umbra, based in Umbra city, based on my takeover of the city after the fall of the last Order of Ebon Skull. There's also a Drow guild, which I will never get the name right on, forgive me Kal.

There are more guilds, check out our guild list section for information on them. I'd rather not post something I'm not sure of.
