Anya woke up realizing what her duty was for the day. She had to get that staff. She went to the bank and got a few items to dress up like a guard. She then proceeded to the mage's house. She informed him that she had to check his home, as someone had broken out of Yew's prison and there is a land wide search for him. She informed him that this man was dangerous. The mage, just returned from being out of town, believed her and gave her an ok to search his place. She went through each room "checking" for the staff. She went into his bedroom and found a chest with a lock. She casted an unlock spell which to her delight worked. She then opened it and foundthe staff. She just reached to grab it when the mage walked in. He realized she had lied to him and started throwing fireballs at her. She dodged a few but got caught with a couples. Luckily the armor she had was abit resistant to fire. She casted paralyze on him and it didn't fizzle on her. This was her lucky day, as she dashed out the door while she could. She called for her spirit mount as got on and rode off to the guard house. She was just about to enter it when she was jumped by 4 brinagades. She was near death but managed to make it to top floor. She made block so the heathens would not come up the stairs. She started to lay down the staff in a corner when suddenly Vahn showed up. He had used his bracelet to track her down. At first startled but somewhat pleased, she found herself snapping at him.
"Leave Now!"
After he refused and they exchanged a few words, she told him if he did love her that he would need to take care of the men down the steps. He did as she asked as once she placed the staff where she thought would be safe, she quickly ran out. Vahn having seen her called out for her but she didn't hear. She then got rid of the uniform and recalled back to the GArden. Few moments later, Vahn appeared demanding to know what was goign on. She informed him nothing and for him t leave her alone. He told her in her state he would not..especially when she was careless about where she placed her items. When she saw he had the staff she freaked.
"VAHN! Give me that staff NOW!"
He backed up not letting her get near him. A few more words were excchanged when he left with the staff using his paladin power. She could not follow him as he took off the bracelet. So she got the sword she took from his house and went looking for him. She stopped at Sanctus then at his house. She slapped Norton around a few times who did not seem pleased or know where Vahn had went to. She left and on the way to Skara, she heard somethig behind her. She turned around and saw Vahn. She rasied teh sword up and demanded him to return the staff to her. He refused and after a few choice words and her trying to impale the sword into him..she dropped the sword and fell to her knees. She was growing tired and weaker. He picked her up and took her home, all the while she was demanding the sword.
Vahn went and tried to calm Anya down after he took her to her room. When it failed he then went to his last option which was to make her drink some ale. He knew she would pass out easily as she could not hold her alochol that well. Once she was forced to drink it, she yelled abit more before the ale took the wanted effect and she passed out. During her time, she tossed and turned. Her dreams becoming nightmares as the she heard the voice. She awoke startled and frightened. Her nightmare was of Vahn being killed. When she saw he was alive she was speechless. The dream was so real. She had to check for herself. The love she has for him showed through as she kissed him. he returned the kiss and she told him that she loved him. All the while she was digging in a pouch. She then withdrew a dagger and told Vahn she had failed. After speaking those words she started to slice her wrist. _________________

"No!" Vahn yelled as he quickly grabbed the dagger from her hand. Opening his pack and tossing the dagger in he took out several banadages and started bandaging her arm up. After completly bandaging her wrist he looked at her for a few moments before speaking.
"Why Anya?" he asked
"Because I have failed" she said as she leaned in to whisper to Vahn while she reached into her pouch.
"What are you grabbing for now?" he said as he reached his hand into her pack and searched for items she could use to hurt her self with. He only found a kryss and two bottles. Taking the items and putting them in his pack he knew he had to prevent her from harming her self. Grabbing the rope he started to tie her to the bed to prevent her from harming her self.
After he finished he saw how frightened she was of the rope. "The snakes are going to bite me" she said as she despretly tried to get the rope off. Feeling sorry her he cut the ropes off her.
Part of Vahn began to relize that what ever she kept calling friend had some influence on her if she thought the ropes were snakes and when she tried to kill her self. He yelled throughout the room in anger yelling to the thing not know weather it could hear him or not. Many times he yelled about if it harmed Anya in anyway he would destroy the staff.
After the anger left him she looked up to him and took off his plate gloves. She took his hand and put it to her face. Her skin was cold to the touch. "So warm...so warm.."She spoke as she held his hand to her face. As she layed her self down to sleep Vahn sliped into bed next to her in hopes to keep her warm since she was so cold. Vahn had comfort knowing where he placed the staff only he knew where it was. _________________ "Concerning martial valor, merit lies more in dying for one's master than in striking down the enemy." |

Vahn sighed as he sat down behind his desk."Such an outbreak of sick." he spokes as he shook his head slightly.
"Seems I will have to now worry about this new batch of sick if it comes to it and they try for the staff. So Molly, Martin, Malta'vesta, Rumnim, and a fellow from the dark order mayhap all sick. Guess Guantlet Isle water supply should be quarinteened" he said to him self while trying to recollect the events of the eve.
"The Paladins of Virtue did a good job housing the sick but I doubt they were prepared for such an outbreak of sick victims. I doubt anyone was really. Seems they will need more bed space somehow. They will think of sometihng..." he said to himself quietly. Slowly he began to become lost in thought for the moment. _________________ "Concerning martial valor, merit lies more in dying for one's master than in striking down the enemy." |

Missive to Walter
A messanger knocks on Walters door. One he answers, the young boy hands him the sealed parchment. The boy not expecting a response to deliever back just nods.
"Good day m'lord."
With that said the boy turned and headed off. When Walter broke the seal, the letter would read as follows:
Dear General Walter,
I am writing to you in hopes to get a certain matter straightened out. It seems that one of your people, perhaps she was an imposter, has went down the wrong path. She has stolen a gem of great value from our bank. Noone questioned her, as we were going to be transporting it to the West Britian Bank. She claimed to be with the Regency guardsmen and wanted to ensure all was fine. Her name was Naissia Dragonbane. I figured I would write to you first before this gets out to the public. The Regent is a good man. As I said perhaps she was an imposter. If so, you should be aware of this still. Good luck and may the Virtues guide you.
Sincerely,
James Wilkeson minter of the Vesper Bank _________________ "Nature gave man two ears but only one tongue. A gentle reminder that he should listen more than he speaks." |

The situation had grown grim for the creature, angered by Anya's failure. He had demanded in her dreams retribution, something that would please him well enough. It was then decided in Anya's dreams, he would have her go to the guardhouse, without her bracelet for Vahn to follow her and poison at Gauntlet Isle, this would be the first step to getting even with Vahn.. There in that guardhouse was a single vial of poison for Anya.
The next order to Anya was to leave a note for Vahn, stating that he would be holding Anya hostage. If Vahn valued her life, he would negotiate a trade for her and the staff... Otherwise, her life would forfeit. Finally, he beckoned Anya to that same guardhouse where two men would be awaiting to escor ther to -safety-. Now it all was up to Vahn to either negotiate or lose the woman he loved.
(Sorry for a short response, I should have had this out sooner. It's not my best post; a little rushed. Rl was biting me in the rear lately, and to those joining the plot. Thank you, I appreciate it greatly) |

Anya's nightmares only got worse. Her nights became even more sleepless only adding to her agitation. She went down to the tavern part of her home, after Tatiana had let her out of the room. All she did was snap at everyone one demanding to know where Vahn was. Noone seemed to know. One last effort to retrieve the staff failed. She then removed her bracelet and started on the first of her quests. She went t the guard house, not many were about, which was good. She then went to Gaulent Isle and poured the contents of the vial into their main water supply. She then went to Vahn's home and wrote a note, as she was ordered to. After writing it, she placed the bracelet down on the floor in front of the board.
Dear Vahn,
I am sorry but this had to be. I had failed. He wants the staff. He will trade you my life for it. He will contact you as to the set arrangement. Be well.
Love
Anya
Single tear rolling down her cheek, she recalled to the guardhouse, where she was met by two men, who escorted her away. _________________

After a short walk to the bank he came home to see the bracelet he gave Anya on the floor and a letter posted on his bullitin board. Kneeling down he picked up the bracelet and walked over to read the letter.
After reading the letter a sorrow came over him. He stood there motionless for some time til he shook his head slightly and walked up the steps to his desk. Sitting down at his desk he puilled out a piece of paper and began to write. _________________ "Concerning martial valor, merit lies more in dying for one's master than in striking down the enemy." |

Dear LaBelle,
It seems grave news has come. Anya left her bracelet of binding on my floor of my home and left a note. It stated that she failed and this creature she calls friend whom also visists her in her dreams will trade Anya's life for the staff. Also she said he will contact me to set an arrangment. I cant risk losing Anya, I have no choice but to hand over the staff. I have one request tho. I wish for an escort so as to when we had over the staff I wish for Anya to be brought to where the other sick are. The escort will have to be on short notice as well. I just hope you can help me with this.
A friend,
Vahn Roughknight

Du Guesclin fled the hospital of noble paladins and gentle care-takers... he took to the forest, his veins pumping hot oil and his chest heaving like forge billows... he ran until his body screamed in aching pain... and then he ran some more. His deep brown eyes were wide like a frightened beast's and he felt the pangs of fear gnaw at his entrails so that he had to stop and feel his belly to make certain they were still inside him... his uncouth ways often made him a friend with death, but his fear was nothing familiar... it was that of a crazed man. He had been told that he was unwell and images often passed through the man's mind... of his own confused mutterings, of licking used bandages, and of reading books of nursery ryhmes that he was told were blank... all of these paled, however, to the dreams that consumed him... he saw himself naked in the evening rain... weeping, lamenting, with shovel in hand digging a hole of mud, tears, urine, blood, and sweat... he would wake to find at his infirmory bedside a pleasant man with a fatherly smile, bidding him be calm and patient... and to come to him in the forest when his hands were stained with blood that could not be washed, les he abandon Du Guesclin to his nightmares... always did he beg the man at his bedside - the man none other could see - to stay... whilst pacing after such a plea did a gentle care-taker named LaBelle find him, and led him up to a rooftop garden, where he read his nursery rhymes on blank pages and heard the talk of two other patients, Molly Willow and Mia, and a paladin, Gohan... telling him to be strong and await salvation... in chairs by a warm hearth-cradled fire, Mia, Gohan, and Du Guesclin later retired to talk again... and the two iron doors that he knew guarded the threshold of his manifest illness' will lay before him... whilst being told of atonement, all his thought was bent upon those doors and the forest that lie behind them... he took the moment of tranquility and fled... finding himself in the forest with his hand on his belly to reassure himself that his entrails had not been spilled... all the fancies of an unwell man, who now had the instinct of the manifest illness whispering in his ear. |

With her arms over her face, Jaana lay in the bed of a house she could not quite call familiar. Ivae, a woman who called Jaana her friend, had appeared worried about her and insisted that Jaana stay with her a while. It was probably so that she could more conveniently murder her, but that didn't bother her.
She had been staying there for almost a week now, though the only notable physical change in Jaana was a loss of fever and green freckles (which she wore a hat to cast a shadow over, believing it nothing serious). Though most who had been poisoned suffered physical frailties, Jaana had a high resistance to poison in that way from a lifetime of eating the wrong berries and greeting the wrong neighbors in the forest. However, never had she before been infected with a poison that rendered her mind so vulnerable.
Whenever Jaana was alone, she felt as if she were thrown into a whole different world. Nightmarish shapes played before her eyes, threatening to tear away her flesh if she made one wrong move. Voices hissed and threatened her, while others spoke the most soothing and promising words. Nothing made sense when she closed her eyes, and sometimes this fictional world didn't cease its' bothering of her when she opened them, either.
She was now afraid to make sudden moves as she thought it might upset the gargoyle that she had accidentally shot. Oh, he was sure to come for her, seeking vengeance! Gargoyles had their ways of finding people, she was sure!
Jenna, her horse, had a habit of wandering off now as Jaana paid much less attention to her. Jaana was sure that she was just being used now, that if she dropped off the place of the planet, Jenna would happily trot up to another, even another human, and call it her master. Master, not an equal, of all things to consider a human! The thought disgusted her.
There was one dominant voice she heard in her unconscious state whose words were more clear than any others around it. It had ordered her to retrieve the shield, which she did gleefully. Stealing valuable objects right behind someone's back reminded her of her younger days when she did so simply to stay alive, though it did give her a sense of pride when she made such achievements.
Jaana knew that she was being used, though it didn't really matter to her anymore. It was simply her purpose, to be puppeted along by whomever can grab her strings. A human is no more than an arrogant slave who does not realize its' place, she mentally reminded herself. It was something she did whenever she felt that she was lacking purpose.. It was a thought that she quoted to herself quite often now, especially when she woke up from the tormenting nightmares.
She was having more trouble waking up from them every time, and idly wondered if it was possible to become trapped in a dream. Such a thought was not doubted by her anymore. _________________ "Forrest, a woman of many words.. Though most of them result in saying, 'You're wrong!'" |

darkness....detached, evil...so like...like what...familar, no it is still forgien. My enemy...why can't anyone understand me?...I'm speaking elven?! How? Since when? I don't know the language or don't remember it with everything else. Rumnim Keress it's not a name at all it's a place...behind Hanse's Hostal...that was the scared ritual site of a group of elves and I was...was what? created there? born there? what? I don't know...the burning pain....my headaches so...can't even cast....I see shadows every where...the balance is as I said coming out of the ground wrong...why? Poison...yes this must be the poison...but who? When? Can't succome to it...delusions or whatever...whoever...can't make me fear what I can't remember...so what will...he? it? they? do to me?...no more...too much now....I will revolt!!
Rumnim wanders from the hospital to the Sacred Tree behind Hanse's for the second time that night, hot, dazed and confused as her mind rushes over all her thoughts. But one thought keeps surfacing through it all. Her journals must be read. Someone must hear what little she knows before it is gone like her ability to speak Common. Finally wandering into Luna, one of the few places where she feels safe by her instincts of telling the balance between the pure and tainted. Stumbling to the bank, she takes her journals from her Bank Box, hoping if there is some intellegence conscious of her very thoughts, that she can shield them from knowing what is contained within the journals. Too tired, far too tired, taking a room above the bank, she falls into a fitful sleep, shadowed horrors filling her dreams. Rising the next day, stumbling from the room and out onto the paths leading to the roads from Luna, she stumbles upon Isilmea, whom noticing Rumnim's state takes her immediately back to Asur'Herenion, and makes a sick room on one floor as soon as she realizes Rumnim isn't the only one effected. Then the adventure of figuring out the stilty, vague Elven of Rumnim's as to what she is saying. But those journals have now been copied and Rumnim is out for blood. Blood of whomever did such an unthinkable thing to so many. |

After a long day of battleing orcs Lia went to the city of vesper to make rounds. After seeing that everything twas quite and peaceful Lia stopped inside the tarven Lia ordered some water and fruit. Not noticeing the bitter taste of the water she had order a pitcher for the cup did not seem to satisfy her thirst. The pitcher of water tasted more odd then the cup she had dranked. She yelled at the barmaid to take the pitcher away. Lia began to feel hot wipeing sweat from her brow. *Thinking to herself it should be cooling off the sun is starting to set* Lia got up paid for the fruit she had eaten and started out for home. _________________ Lia L

*the journal of a Knight Seeker of the House of the Gauntlet*
Stumbling in the door of the Garden carrying her dreadfully ill daughter barely able to stand herself she cried out for Silent Poet. He was nowhere to be found, but she knew his daughter had had a high fever days before and the fever was gone now. Someone had to help her. Her daughter was burning up.
All those that were there came to her and helped her with the child. They carried her up to the baths upstairs and swabbed her forhead laying her in the water there but to no avail. Her fever still soared.
Molly herself collapsed into the water and was carried to a bed with her daughter. Not long after that they brought in her husband Martin and their daughter's former governess. Malta, Molly's daughter was hilusinating as was Molly and Martin was talking backwards. The governess Rumnin, an elf, was unable to speak a word of common and could not understand it either. The took them all to Readyn, the healer in Malas.
They have been there for days now and we are all wondering if there will ever be a cure for them. They all get angrier by the day and last eve Molly even attacked some of us guards. What is to become of her and the rest? Especially the poor child. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

"So, what do ye think?" Sir Robert looked at the older man sitting across him in the upper, private, stories of the Wandering Wisp Tavern.
"I dinna know. 'Tis nay me major profession, lad." McDouglas had the browned skin and calloused hands of a blacksmith. "But I can tell ya one thing. There is something in th' waters."
Sir Robert nodded and motioned the man to continue. McDouglas was his uncle, maternal side. And while he was mostly a smith, he also had some experience as alchemist. The duke had waited for Walter to contact Bleen the Green, but so far no response had come. Thus he had contacted the closest person he knew who might help.
"What is it then, uncle? A poison?"
"Don' think so. At least it does not react to a Cure Potion like a normal poison does. Anyways, lad, some waters are contaminated, but not all. Yar precious Trinsic is as far as I can tell clean. But ya Paladins drink ale anyways." He sighed. "But thats all I can tell. Maybe I'll be able ta ye more later.
Sir Robert thanked him and stood up. His first action was to head to the Guards of the town, to make sure they are heeding the order of the TCoH to guard the water supplies of the town. He was, indeed, worried. _________________ Reality, the refuge of those who fail in RPGs

Sitting on Jenna at the roof of the guardhouse, Jaana uninterestedly watched the clouds float overhead out of lack of anything better to do. She wanted to fire a few arrows at the damned blotches in the sky to see if they bled, but she intended to save her arrows for a bloodier and therefore more interesting task. Though, in her current state, it did seem quite possible that clouds could bleed as well.
Hearing a set of heavy footsteps, she glanced over her shoulder to see an armed trio walking along the path and scowled. She was hoping that Vahn would have come alone, though she had seriously doubted the human to. Humans, particularly human men, were cowardly like that. They feared taking on any of their problems by themselves. She snorted in disgust.
Finally, she heard them tromping up the stairs. She notched an arrow and pointed it at Anya, who was standing next to her. She was the reason that they were here.
Anya stood completely still, showing not even a sign of acknowledgement to their presence or Jaana's arrow pointed at her head. The man heavily clad in platemail whom fit the description she was given of Anya's lover, Vahn, was the first to break th silence.
"Who is that?" he asked, not being well-aquainted with Jaana.
"It appears to be Jaana," Poet answered, though Jaana doubted that such a vague answer actually meant anything to Vahn. She didn't remember giving him her name when she had been briefly introduced to him at the Garden.
If Jaana had been in more of a conscious state, she would not have let her pride get to her, but as that was not the case she got right to the point as she was not eager to waste her breath on what she deemed such filthy scum.
"Give me the staff," she growled quite irritably. It was as if she was standing idle in her own body whilst some other cruel part of her awakened to take firm control.
"Send Anya over here," Poet answered back.
"No. I do not trust you," she snapped back. "Give me the staff, first."
Quite a bit of arguing between Poet and Jaana commenced, though it was mostly the same idea over and over again. Neither parties were willing to compromise, and there was no way in the Hells that Jaana was going to obey any orders a human man gave her. Being puppetted by such scum is below even me!
The third member of the rescue party, a man clad in blue, started to inch towards her. Oh, the nerve! Angrily, she pointed her arrow at him, barking at Poet to call him back. He simply told her to send Anya a few steps towards him in response, then she put her arrow back to her head.
"I'll kill her," she gleefully announced with an insane grin.
"Corp Por."
Jaana looked down at the corpse at her feet, admittedly baffled by what had just happened. She had been depending on the value of Anya's life to retrieve the staff, though apparently it was worth less than she was told. After it registered, she was quite disappointed that Poet had beat her to the mark.
However, the disappointment faded when she remarked cheerfully and sarcastically, "Well! Some father you are!"
As he approached Anya, she chuckled and rode over to Vahn, her smile instantly fading. "Now give me the staff," she coldly demanded.
Vahn stared at her a moment, the pain from such a betrayal evident in his eyes. Anya's death was only a nuisance to her, and if she hadn't been so hellbent in getting the staff she would have taking a moment to gloat about Vahn's pain. After a pause, he finally told her, "Poet has it.."
Scowling and snarling under her breath, Jenna moved a few steps towards Poet and Jaana notched yet another arrow, pointing it at his head. Her cold distance was turning quite quickly to anger. Showing emotion was unusual for her as she had learned quite a time ago that it could be dangerous.
"Give me the staff!" she demanded, her patience wearing quite thin now.
Though she heard his voice, they were nothing more than meaningless murmurs to her ears and mind. The man in blue approached her.
"Jaana, you are under arrest for kidnapping Anya."
Kidnapping? Anya was quite intent to follow her up here despite the fact that her life had been considered forfeit.
"Dismount and disarm."
He had said that quite a few times to her throughout the event, but she'd pretty much ignored him. This time she chuckled and then spat a venemous, "No!" at him.
He charged at her, shoving her off of Jenna, and she silently fell to the ground. How did that happen? How the hell did a mere human catch her off guard? Oh, he will pay dearly for such an insult!
Slinging her bow over her shoulder, she tackled him, wrapping her hands tightly around his neck. As he tried to push her off, her grip tightened and a malicious grin widened. Her hat had fallen off, so the green speckles practically glowed in the night's weak light.
Throwing her weight, she attempted to shove the man into Poet who was nearby and chanting something (a healing spell) that Jaana assumed an attempt to attack. While she was unbalanced, the man had managed to catch her offguard again and punched her in the face, leaving a large bruise between her cheek and nose.
"Jaana, you are under arrest for kidnapping Anya!" he announced again.
She realized that at this rate, she wasn't going to get the staff any time soon. With her usual irritated grunt, she turned and fled silently. Aside from screaming seeming rather mocking to her, it was also not the most tactical thing to do when fleeing.
The man chased her a while, though she managed to scramble up into a tree to hide, a thing she was better at than she chose to acknowledge. She stayed there quite a while, wondering if they'd killed Jenna whom she'd left behind, a dull pain of guilt plaguing her mind. It was quite a while before she finally leapt down from the tree and ran back.
Vahn was still there, staring off the roof's ledge distantly. She doubted that he noticed her run in and jump on Jenna's back then gallop off as he didn't even move when she came in sight.
As Jenna galloped off towards Ivae's house, their little hideout which they had not needed until now, Jaana ran a hand over her head.
"Damnit.. I forgot my hat."
*
She found herself back at the nymph's house. Yet again, Jaana found herself alone in that barely familiar place, staring up at the sandstone wall. The very sight of sandstone could make her wretch if caught off guard. She wouldn't even dare go near the town of Trinsic.
Her mind would not let her forget the the bone-clattered streets of Trinsic, with various faction knights galloping around on horses that would stir up all sorts of chaos in the name of their leader.. The bloodstained walls and ground, and occasional human corpse that had been disected simply out of the victors' whim..
As she lay there on her cot with her eyes wide open, those nightmarish shapes that haunted her usually only when out of her conscious state dancing right before her eyes now, taunting her as she stiffened and stared at them like a frightened and confused deer.
Out of habit, or moreso paranoia, Jaana had the bow right next to her on the bed and her quiver of arrows rested against the nightstand. She quickly snatched up her quiver in the manner that one would snatch a precious item away from a blazing fire, then notched an arrow. Many were fired blindly around the room, and she almost broke a vase in her panic.
All she could hear was shrieking, demonic laughter that drowned out any thought as the throbbing in her ears made it impossible to concentrate. Trembling too violently to fire another arrow, she silently collapsed back into a laying position on the bed and shoved a pillow over her head in attempt to block out the noises. It didn't even muffle the sounds that in reality only existed in her mind. _________________ "Forrest, a woman of many words.. Though most of them result in saying, 'You're wrong!'"
