Kelly rode out into the early evening and into the city of Minoc. She did a thorough check and greeted the townsfolk here and there. The city was quiet which was good. Satisfied, she then rode southeast to the city of Vesper. After a long inspection of the city, and again satisfied, she looked up to the night sky.
The cool evening breeze tickled her senses. The winds of change. She knew them all too well. The Cappadocians had been a force to be reckoned with in the past. But recent fights with Sanctus have cost them. Her fangs extended as she thought of her near victory over the Prince, only to have the moment snuffed by the traitor Ariana. The girl was mortal. Another kine to be hunted. She smiled.
Her mount startled and she looked around, to see a serpent nearby. Quickly, Kelly dismounted and strode to it. The serpent rose as if to strike but only swayed back and forth. Kelly bowed before it. "My Lord, Set, I thank you." The serpent's eyes glistened and then it vanished. She rose with a renewed strength...she lifted her hand to the left side of her head and smiled. The holy symbol of the coiled serpent of Set was warm. Her unwavering faith in her deity had finally brought him to her. She let her hair cover the tattoo and strode to her skittish mount. The winds of change indeed have blown.
Kelly rode off into the night toward the moongate alone. It was nothing new to her. She preferred to hunt alone. Yet something told her she was being followed. She got to the moongate with no incident and spoke softly the word "Luna" before entering. Upon arriving in the City of Light, Kelly was greeted by glares of several paladins. They made no move toward her as she rode into the City's main square. She deposited a few items at the bank and rode to the Cappadocian vendor home.
She dismounted and went inside. Casually she went up the steps to the roof to where the statues stood. They were there all magnificent pieces. She then removed her goves and glasses and knelt before them all. Giving each statue a blessing. Then she laid both hands over the cool stone pavers and blessed the building. "May this building be the the Darkness in the City of Light. May any Cappadocians who come here be safe within the walls of this Unhallowed Ground." Kelly stood and walked, replacing her gloves and glasses before taking her leave. She looked the building over and it seemed to have a shadow to it now. She then rode off to her sanctuary in the north outside the walled city. She made sure to take the long way about to the sanctuary in case she was indeed being followed. |
