Tay stood on the Western bridge in Umbra. Both of his hands gripped the railing tightly. His eyes, glazed and heavy, peered carelessly over the blackened river filled with stars. He fought relentlessly to hold back his tears. Ciara pressed against him tightly, her head turned up, starring curiously into Tays eyes.

"What's wrong?" Ciara asked. She'd only ever seen him this emotional at his fathers funeral.

"They're dead..." Tay let out a disgusted sigh. "They're all dead."

Ciara watched his eyes carefully. Tay tried his hardest to keep his breathing steady while he explained. She didn't push him to speak, she waited patiently while he collected his thoughts.

"I just finished speaking with the Matriarch." Tay continued. "I originally went to speak with her about the offer she presented at my fathers funeral. When she asked to adopt me. After we covered that topic, she told me to sit because she had news."

A few tears finally escaped the young man's eyes. They trickled down his cheek. Ciara tightened to him and gently rubbed his back.

"The Matriarch told me my mother is dead. It's been confirmed. The Lich Lord, murdered her. Apparently my mother was convinced the Lich Lord had something to do with Braelyns disappearance. My father was convinced, and so was my mother. If my sister was indeed kidnapped by the Lich Lord, she is surely dead. At least that's what Ceinwyn insures." The tears dropped from his eyes quickly now. "I have no idea why exactly my father would have assumed this. But he must have had his reasons. Apparently he knew the Lich Lord, before he was a Lich Lord, when he was 'Darrien Church'. If this is true, it means that the Lich Lord is single handedly responsible for the majority of my family being killed. Atira left home and went on a man hunt by herself, to find Braelyn. She was found dead in a dungeon. Now, both my mother and my sister, have been killed by this sorry excuse of a Lich Lord."

Tay began to sob quietly. Ciara turned him to face her and wrapped her arms around his waste. She held him tightly, his body gently trembled against hers. Tears fell from his face, soaking the top of her head.

"I've really got to stop crying in front of girls. It's ruining my image." Tay muttered.

"Not at all. I think it's better if you don't bottle it all up." Ciara replied, still hugging him tightly.

"The Matriarch also told me a bit more about my birth. I was always lead to believe that my mother saved me, that I was left to die and Umbra raised me as one of theirs. Apparently, my mother stole me at birth, and as a consequence, the Matriarch told her she must raise me. Ceinwyn claims to have no idea why I was stolen at birth. I believe her, I just wish she knew. What is my purpose in being here? Why wasn't I just left there, or saved by Sanctus; like my brother?"

Ciara stood speechless. She rubbed his back, unsure of what to say. Tay stood quietly, his tears had dried out, his breathing calm.

"What do you plan to do?" Ciara asked, lifting her head to look back up at Tay.

"The Matriarch told me the only way a Lich Lord can be destroyed, is if their phylactery is destroyed. Darrien Church has hidden his. I must find it, in order to repay him for all he's done for my family. I'll research everything there is and was to know about Darrien Church, and the Lich Lord. I will do my damnedest, to bring him down, at whatever cost." Tay gritted his teeth.

"That's a start, I may have an idea of where you could start to look." Ciara calmly stated.

"I also desire to find out what exactly happened at my birth. I'd like to actually discover what my purpose being here is. Why was I stolen, and why didn't I meet the same fate as the other child? Malic M'real once tried to meet with me, when I was younger. I was too arrogant and ignorant to hear what he had to say. Perhaps now, I'll approach members of the M'real family. Perhaps through them, I can possibly figure out how to puzzle my history together."

Tay stood firm and calm now. He pulled his arms from around Ciaras neck, and placed them on her shoulders. He pushed her out, half an arms length away from him. His eyes gazed into hers, they both stood silently.

"I've been meaning to tell you something Ciara..." Tay spoke quietly, his eyes still locked on hers. "I've been too afraid to though, afraid of the possible out come. But with each of the current events that have taken place, it's opened my eyes. Anything could happen at any given time. I don't want to waste any chance I have..."

Ciara gazed back at Tay, speechless. "I haven't stopped thinking about you since my return. I've urged for nothing else, but to feel your arms around me. I grow defensive over your well being, even if you're an Umbran women." Tay spoke softly.

He placed his hand against her cheek and lifted her chin. Ciara so easily lifted to her tip toes. The two met, Tay went ninety, she went ten. Their lips locked together tightly and passionately. No more of an explanation from Tay was needed.

The tavern was noisy and tons of fun for Shade. She was in her prime this eve, moving from group to group, carefree a bit wild she was happy to see the activity abound.

Umbra's catering to vampires was unmatched...this eve..

The night wore on and the room quieted slightly the laughter the clinking of bottles still prevalent tho. When Shade noticed Ciara with a young man..

Not just any young man nay she had seen him off and on as he grew, her eyes watching the reminder of days long ago of secrets long held. She wondered if he knew his past, the irony of him here in Umbra and, how much he knew of his entanglement with the Cabal.

She smiled but jealousy leapt into her eyes remembering Toren and Audrina... and this boy, this child...

Tempering this she stared long and hard and silence held her tongue. Perhaps one day he would seek out more knowledge..this Mreal child..

Funny how his last name had almost been Smythe..
