Hey all! It's been a long time since I have poked my head into UO or RPed with all y'all. As time goes on, we find ourselves preoccupied with new things, and for me this is finishing my English degree in college (goooo worthless degree!) and working on a very big creative project: a rpg videogame.

I have been making said game utilizing a variety of tools such as photoshop for graphics, a series of sprite generators, and have been lucky enough to have people compose music and do computer programming. Anybody can make their own little RPG games with software from Enterbrain inc. like RPG Maker XP or VX, which I have been using as well, though heavily modified for my purposes.

If you are into old-school style RPGs but enjoy the more modern 2d spriting graphics, then you might want to check out my game.

I figured I would give you guys a demo of the game to download so you can see for yourselves, if you're interested! Smile

Demo: http://www.mediafire.com/?xd3wbzabsn0 (caution, somewhat big)

The game does feature my favorite ol' Byronic character, Galathan, as well as a couple characters from two of my bestest buds from the community: Tatiana Alexi and Silent Poet. However, the game is not really about them, and they play primarily supporting roles.

Here are some screenshots I threw together so you get a better idea of what the game looks like thus far:

Anyways, I hope you guys have fun if you choose to play it! Keep up the good fight! Four more years! Etc!

Awesome! Awhile ago these user-created RPG's were abundant and there were some pretty awesome ones. There was this one particular series called Legion Saga that I really enjoyed. I've been hoping for awhile to find another one of these awesome games, so you can bet I'm going to download and play this thing. Very Happy I'll let you know what I think after I've played it!

The full version isn't finished yet. There is about 40ish hours or so of playtime completed, but there is still more to do yet, and then there is the beta testing which I will need to find people to help me with. Once completed, the game will be free to everyone. It is a labor of love, not a labor of capitalism.

Wow, 40ish hours? That's pretty impressive! Most user-created RPG's like this that I've played usually last no more than 5 hours. Very nice.

And I'd love to help you out with the beta. Just let me know!

Loving it so far, I really miss these old school RPG's. However, I'm having trouble beating the first boss, the big turtle. It keeps healing itself for 300+ very often so I'm unable to defeat him. Am I doing something wrong?

Regarding the turtle

*possible spoiler, read on at your own risk!*

You might have mostly just gotten unlucky. Out of the times I have play tested against him, he has only ever done it maybe once in a fight (happens when he reaches 1-25% hp) or maybe twice at the very most. A generally good idea is to save up your RT abilities for when he gets low on hp (Arae gets assess at level 5 which allows you to scan the enemy and see their hp and stats) and then stun him using Arae's RT ability and finish him off with Darrien's RT ability. This is just one strategy, but generally I have not had any problems taking the turtle down without coordinating skill attacks. Though, sometimes I get a bit unlucky as well and he ends up guarding each time I decide to use my RT abilities!

If it still gives you too much trouble, let me know!

*Possible minor spoilers?*

Thanks for the tip! I was able to bring him down after a couple tries. I know the game isn't complete, but I'd suggest maybe making the amount of health his healing ability does a little... less, heh. One time he literally did it every turn about 8 times in a row. He was probably fully back to health by then. Wink

I don't want to ruin anything for anyone else, but at one point you gain control of another character, and the menu was inaccessible. Not sure if this is intentional or not, but I did just get to the point where you're given the option to save. But still no menu. Once again, not sure if it's supposed to be like this or not, just thought I'd say something.

But honestly, I'm really enjoying it so far. You must have somehow heard my silent call for a game just like this. Wink

I actually already toned it down for some reason prior to you mentioning it (another possible mind-read? who knows!) but it is impossible for him to recharge back to full life using it since it is triggered only to be used if he is below 25%, so my guess is you were simultaneously unlucky and you kep't knocking him down into the 25% range without quite finishing him off. But anyways, glad you are enjoying it! And I did disable the menu for that short chapter because I wanted to the character's stats and skills and everything remain a mystery until a bit later Very Happy
