Can someone explain something really simple to me? What changes have been made to the game mechanics over the past four years? I feel a little lost.

That is a very broad question. Is there something you need to know about or just in general?

Heheh, I know it's broad. I guess if someone could point me towards the last few years of game changes, I would really appreciate it. I'm trying to re-learn UO while learning about all you folks I never had the pleasure of meeting. Tough work...luckily they give me a walled in office with a computer at work...so I have all the time in the world.

Back when Mally and I were active, if a weapon was [exceptonal] it was easily identifed as a good weapon. Theres been huge changes and thats partially why I havent really gotten back into things. I'm clueless as to current mechanics.

Jaedy! How are you?!

Ahem...

Right, back when we played, valorite plate was endgame.

Jaedra, you should play again!

Play UO!

Anywho, here is an example of the type of stuff I am concerned with:
When I left, Dex affect bandage time. Assuming I had 100 dex then and now, would there be any difference in healing times and total damage healed? I know next to nothing about anything that happened after the Japanization of UO.

Dex still affects bandage time. Aim high! (borrowed from the air force) I believe the normal dex cap is 128 now, but items can push it over? You professional pvpers wanna give us a quote?

I like the new expansions to the game, because nowadays you can almost always find a place that isn't too camped to hunt in. I can give you a tour OOCly ingame, if you want. I find I focus better on game stuff if I'm actually in it. Just let me know when and I'll tour you.

As far as colored metal, colored leather, and colored wood goes, you can enhance regular weapons and armors you find as loot to give them new properties.

I highly recommend reading this page to catch up on things you wish to learn more about:

Feel free to ask me anything, Jon. I've been here since 98, and have kept up on the game mechanics throughout the whole year. I even know some little things that most people don.t

ie: (Eval + Anatomy) / 2, +20 = defense skill unarmed. You can effectively have 140 "defense skill." Amongst other things.

Bring specific questions, though.
