She walked away from the artisan, her eyes forward, slowly wandering towards the town proper. Her ears were deaf to the sounds of screams around her, and the harsh clang of steel and scale. Lotte moved with an almost dazed expression, going no where but forward. She stared down, counting the stones, the sound in her head screaming to be released. “I can’t sing anything bad, I can’t sing anything bad,” she chanted out loud, the song pulling more at her, it’s discordant clang playing in harmony with the rage of the fighters around her. She walked, blinded by emotion, into a large leg. She looked up dispassionately as the dragon roared again at her, breathing in deep to release it’s hot breath.
Lotte opened her mouth, and hardest, most painful sound came forth from her mouth. The dragon stopped suddenly before her, falling down to it’s knees, it’s head shaking in pain. Lotte watched as the cowards fled around her, none willing to stand up and fight. She stared at the mass of people fighting and narrowed her eyes, focusing on a small wyrm tearing at a waitress’s leg. Song burst from her lips as she watched the dragon let go, thrashing it’s head. She looked past it, seeing an ancient wyrm tearing into the knights before it. She sang again, and the little wyrm shook it’s head, but was unable to resist, turning on the ancient wyrm, striking it. She gazed over, and sang again, seeing a greater breathe it’s dark fire upon an unsuspecting warrior. She screamed with song, the words unintelligible, and the dragon bowed before her, and turned, striking against the ancient too.
She kept on, the pain in her heart commanding those about her to fall. Her wrath flew towards those nearby, as the song fell in waves, no longer able to focus on but one victim. Warriors went into a fury, killing all in their sight, dragons and innocents alike. Her voice strengthened, watching the blood spill upon the pavement in sacrifice to her song. She watched as high notes struck the heart of a mother, causing her to turn on her baby, stabbing it, then seeing what she’d done, turn the dagger on herself. As the body fell, so did the music. A silence fell upon the land, all slowly blinking as if coming from a daze. Lotte looked at the woman and began to cry, tears falling freely, released now that the music had been appeased. |
