Nicola stood in the kitchen of her family's beach house. The morning sunrays glowed off her smooth, tan skin. Slicing strawberries and cantaloupe, she laughed quietly, thinking of the people she had met this past week. The fun she had with them at the Umbra tavern had given her respite from her usual worries. The demands of the family business were high, and the responsibility for maintaining their power was falling more and more on her shoulders.

She tasted a strawberry and took her plate of fruit to the beach where she sat under a palm tree to enjoy the sunrise. Naturally confident, she was sure she would make things work; despite the unpleasant concessions she had to make for the time being.

After finishing her breakfast, she returned to the house - walking with her usual grace. Maybe I will visit the tavern, again, she smiled, approvingly, at this thought.
