Nightshade is a poisonous plant that exists in real life, and looks just like the UO counterpart. Its medicinal purposes were to cure some skin disorders, and can produce hallucinations if used as a drug.

Foxglove would work even better for producing wild hallucinations, but it is also quite toxic. Medicinally, it was for heart problems. It'd slow the beat down.

Marijuana depresses the nervous system, making you calm.

Also, it's the marijuana flower, root, and possibly seeds you get the effect from. Not leaves, as used a la nightshade.

If you want to RP pot, why not just go and discover a tropical plant and call it blissbloom or something. Name it Mary Jane after your IG girlfriend even. I just get really sad every time I see nightshade, an entirely different plant with its own different drug properties, RPed as pot.

Talk about a big old "It doesn't matter." Why be nitpicky about things that are as insignificant as this? It'd be more worried about, say, the integrity of emotes and RP quality in general.

Nightshade also helps kick your wine up a notch if you do it right... just don't use too much.

Marijuana is actually classified as a hallucinogen due to the concentration of Ttetrahydrocannabinol (THC). While the effects aren't experienced in any great capacity, more concentrated creations can cause more notable hallucinogenic effects above and beyond just relaxation and sedation.

So technically, yes it is a hallucinogen, though the classic effects coming with such a designation don't necessarily fit neatly onto marijuana.
