when we did the one on ls we used serps hold but i do like the vesper idea. each team had a person that they where supposed to guard(the flag) that person had to be killed so that the team that killed it could loot the actuall flag i think it was a box or a book or something.

my idea so far is to do the same type thing each team has a person that just stands there being guarded. once killed the player can only be reressed to hold a captued flag. i would of course as for people that maybe just wanted to watch to play this roll. what im thinking about doing is we can craft a book by 1 persona dn just name it team 1s flagteam 2 flag etc. we do like a time limit or soemthing and the team with the most flags wins. now only a set peron can hold the flags a player fighting can not hold it which this is my delema on how i could make sure that that stayed that way.

for the trammel (problem) all teams must make a guild and go to war with each other so that all teams are at war. u will jsut make random guildnams we get a list of the guild tags and each gm goes to war with the others.

this is just a small overview if anyone does want to help out a bit with makign a list of rules and lookign at towns aim me.

I like the idea of using the bucs den cavern its out of gz and not much of a chance any griefers are going to find us. The event will have to be done in Trammel and anyone involved will have to be warred to everyone else but I don't see why we would have to leave our guilds, we could just war the guilds we're in. You can heal oj's in trammel there isn't any downside to it and the wars only have to last till the event is over.

I have a few ideas for the setup, I'm not sure if any of them are in the rules from great lakes I think that event happened during one of my vacations from UO. Cool
First I'd suggest teams of 5 if at all possible that allows you to leave some people at your flags and send a decent sized group to capture flags.
Second the flaggs are robes, each team has their own color and when you capture a flag you wear it that way everyone knows who has a flag and can try to kill them. I'd also suggest when you have a flag on you can't hide or stealth it would just be too easy. Each team would have two crates to guard one filled with their own flags and one filled with captured flags a raiding team could steal out of either but each raider can only carry one flag because he or she can only wear one robe. There could even be two prizes one for the team with the most captured flags and one for the team with the fewest lost flags. Also each team should have their own colored team robe a different color from their flag robes. That way when you get raided by a bunch of people in one color you know that colors base is now weak and can make your own raid.
Third I think you should only be able to rez at your own base or at some pre approved safe area that way dieing has a consequence. I think the safe area would be best just put someone there thats not warred to anyone to do the rezzing and healing someone with chivalry and lots of mana regen would be best they can mass rez and heal that way.

Just some ideas for ya Drizzt. Smile

I'm still looking for that thread we had fleshing out the rules....it's kinda old, so I might not pull that off....

BUT

We did use robes. That worked well as you could spot a flag carrier easily, and we used judges at either end (as we only did 1 team vs 1 team contests) who could keep the team chest open at the same time and know when a flag was not only gone, but when a captured one was placed for victory.

Personally, I'd say teams with more than 5 would be cool if you only ran 2. Huge teams might be a bit tedious, but for a few runs, might be really REALLY fun. If nothing else, it's just a competition. The best thing is to just run some and work out details from there. Let teams get use to the rule set, make suggestions... then run an official series at a later date.

If you did bagball flag style movement, that eliminates the need for robes, and also eliminates the possibility of a stealth flag carrier.

It also allows the team retrieving the flag a chance to catch up and defend their flag, where if someone with a good connection grabs it and runs, its pretty much over.

Although I'm a bit rusty at UO PvP.. I'd be down. It sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I just need to find someone to beat on a bit. Smile

OK first thing i need form everyone that wants in is an idea of a prize.

second these are what im thinking for rules just to amke it different from other events that have been held.

no hidin no stealth no invis
no tamers
no rking

now i dont really see a problem with people leaving there current guilds just for this event. this way u can have teeams of 5 of people from whatever guild u want.
no outside help- meaning bring what you need for a long battle becasue noone is aloud to be restocked during battle.

i am thinking along the lines of each team has 3 books that myself or someone else will make then mark and seal so that they cant be changed. the team at the end that has the most books will win. the object is to kill each other for the books. anyone can hold them u can have 1 each or as many as u can carry on u at a time. but there will be maybe a 20 min timer or something and we can have like 5 teams fight at one time. if there are more than 5 teams we can do more than 1 group of fights or have elimintion rounds that would be shorter with the last fight lasting the longest.

tell em what u thin of this so far and we will discss some more

I'm not a pvper
But if its a night I can be there I'll gladly volunteer to be a neutral healer

Prizes...
I don't know if this shard is into Gold or Goods?

I know we use to long long ago on GL use a guild title of "Champion" to denote the winner of a tournament or something similar. It was a public way of showing your prowess until defeated.

Some sort of engraved traveling trophy?

Rares?

Weapons?

Gold?

I have a blood tile (floor type) and could donate 2 mil to the prize kitty if that would help.

i actualy like that idea of having random healers around like in a safe spot. maybe 3-5 people if i cant get enoung to do this maybe ill do it as well instead of joining in.

also no looting anything sept books off of bodies.

for prizes im thin king where going to have to have something that 5 people can all use seperatly incase we have a grup of people that arnt in the same guild.

How about 5 identical scepters all with something inscribed on them to denote the Capture the flag champions as a keep sake. CAP will also be willing to donate 10mil to the prize kitty.

Since Ellesbeth is much better at healing than fighting, I'd be willing to be a healer. After all, the virtuous people need someone there. I can't heal unsavory people for some odd reason, something about not being able to perform beneficial acts, and they can't heal me. So someone needs to be there that can heal either one or the other and a group of healers would be a good idea. I'm a Paladin, so I can also do the Noble Sacrifice, in addition to bandages.

I wouldn't spend too much time on this part. Doing an event like this is REALLY a lot of fun if done right. And that should be modivation enough, IMHO.

I hate to stir this pot, but when you look at a guild (Blue Lotus Clan) that requires a member to be a Ninja that can Hide/Stealth, you're asking those people to participate and be 180 to 200 skill points behind other fighters based on their template. I'm not saying that we wouldn't participate cause we can't stealth around, but restrictions over just pure dismissal might be a better idea.

I think handling this through warfare designation would be simpler than dropping guild and getting readded. The first involves just the GM's, the latter involves everyone who participates. For those who's GM's (or a guild Warlord) aren't activly participating, those individuals could drop guild and be added to one that does. I'd also like to add that as a former GM, having the guild work together as a team is an added benifit, which to me would rule out multi guild teams vs multi guild teams. (Especially if this is IC vice OOC)

I really like this idea, and think it would be really cool. But the point of "Capture the Flag" is that you can not only see when someone has yours, but you can see who that person is, and try to go get them. If you do books, once a flag has been taken, there's little or no opportunity to go after your flag and get it back. You're basically SOL at that point.

Really "loud" robes take care of that, and can be handled similarly with more than one team.
