Maia wandered the streets of New Haven learning what she could from the men and women who trained various skills for a small fee. As the sun set, she was oblivious to the fact she was being watched. A man clad in black and crimson stood silent in the shadows of the buildings, watching her, following her.
Marius watched the mortal girl for several hours now. She had strong spirit and was tenacious in the things she did. Qualities he often sought out. He waited for the right moment to approach her.
"Greetings young lady." He bowed his head in a noble gesture of greeting, never taking his gaze from her.
Maia stopped short as she heard the man's voice. She turned her head to see the handsome dark clad and well groomed man greeting her. She blushed and did a half curtsey and half bow. "oh...hello sir. Can I help you? I mean...um...well.."She fumbled her words.
Marius gave a chuckle and smile to Maia. "Parhaps you can indeed help me. You see. I have been watching you. You may have just what I need. shall we walk and I will further explain?" He motioned down the streets of New Haven toward a darker road.
Maia seemed cautious at first, but found no harm in a simple chat. Besides, she did like this man's sharp attire. "Oh, well....sure. I could use a little break from training." she smiled and they walked off into the woods just outside the city.
Marius smiled as she walked beside him and not behind him. "would you mind if we went someplace more private to speak? I have much to discuss with you....to offer to you."
"I suppose we could, but....I have no means of travel except my feet."
Marius pulled a book from a pack at his hip and opened it up. "Not a problem dear girl..."he let the words trail off before he chanted the words to open a magic gate.
Maia was stunned. A mage! This man was indeed powerful!
She followed him through the gate and they were before a small establishment near the desert.
"Where are we?" She followed him into the tavern and sat across from him at a table. The place was void of life.
Marius smiled and in a smooth tone he answered her. "Welcome to the Bloody Feast. a tavren owned and maintained by my Clan."
Maia was again stunned. Wealth was something foreign to her. She sat enthralled by his words as he further exlained things and then made her an offer she couldn't pass up.
In the night, a small cry of pain echoed in the desert. A foolish mistake made by a young girl....
Somehow, during the transition, something went wrong....leaving Maia a disturbed yet beautiful young vampire. She was kept in the basement for several weeks as the Clan was faced with deciding whether or not to slay her. Maia was far from stupid, a little mentally unstable perhaps....but not stupid.
During a night of food and drinks, Maia saw many strangers come down to gawk at her and some even tried to speak to her....she only wanted out....She only wanted her soul....her freedom....her mortality....
After the last of the guests had left the tavern, it was then Maia made a run for it. The door was open and that was her goal. She ran up the steps, past the barkeeps and host before anyone could stop her. Maia ran off into the woods north, followed the road until she found buildings. There, she found a cellar to sleep the day in. Free....she had her freedom. Now to find her soul...and perhaps her sanity...
Somewhere in the great city of Britain a maniacal cackle of glee erupted.
Maia was up the next sundown, and attacked the stable in the eastern side of Britain, slaying several horses. Two for food, and the third was for fun.
She roamed about and found a shroud to wear so she wouldnt spook the mortals. She didn't want to get attention...not now.
Maia wandered aimlessly throughout the lands in sosaria. Slaying a mortal once in a while for a better meal when she could. She began training her skills up as she had no idea of how long it was since she had escaped her masters. Nor did she know if her masters would hunt her down as she remembered hearing them speak of her "existence being limited." She won't go back without a fight and this train of thought has made her an unpredictable young woman....and vampire.
