Okay, so I was a little bored this morning.. and decided to try my hand at the animation side of Daz. I made a simple walk cycle for a character named Jack. I decided to use him due to how close Halloween is.

Cute. OK, I downloaded the Daz 3D and it seems to just be bare bones and I can't do much with it. Do I have to buy lots of extras in order to actually make something exciting? One sports bra and shorts and a sweat suit and shirt is not a lot of clothing to work with and only a few props and backgrounds.

So, what do I do next? I looked at some of the art you can buy and it seems like there may be a few other free things you can get. I was so busy playing with Daz last night that I totally forgot about the tavern night. Sorry I missed it. Shocked

You should have gotten the following, if the DAZ info page is correct:

DAZ Studio QuickStart Content

1. Figures
* Victoria 4.2 with "Heavy", "Thin", "Muscular" and "Default" Morphs.
* 3 Texture maps for Victoria: Mapless, All natural bikini, All natural NG.
* 10 Victoria "General" poses and 17 "Modern Day" poses.

2. Hair
* Glamour Hair with 4 textures, blonde, red, brown, black.

3. Clothing
* Pants, shirt, shoes from the "Classic Casual Collection".
* Boy shorts and sports bra from "Basicwear" with white striped texture map.
* "Trainer" tennis shoes with foot pose.
4. Cycloramas
* Beach, Forest, Wild
* Interior Backdrop
5. Lighting Presets
* Beach, Forest, Wild.
6. Props
* Volleyball (from beach volleyball set)
* Bench and Chair from Dream Home: Great Room Accessories - Eclectic.
* 6 Plant and Tree sets for the "Forest" and "Wild" Cycloramas.

Did you try poking around in your content folder from within the program to see if you got these?

If you didn't get anything, access your account page. Check for available coupons and downloads.

From the help forum:

Quote:
When you register DAZ|Studio the installers for the base content will be added to your available downloads, reachable from your Account page. The links expire after a few days - if you miss them go to your Itemized order history (also from your Account page), find the DAZ|Studio registration item and click the Reset link to the right; after about half-an-hour the items will be back in your available downloads.

Looks good Cein, as always. If you want some constructive criticism, it looks like he could use just a tad more bending at the knees, and a little more swing with the arms.

With you getting into DAZ animations now, I'm excited to see what you come up with.

Also, I feel he needs to move his head a bit more. I made another, to test how well clothing moves, and to see what the cartoon aspect looks like. Again, same issue with the head being held still.

The resolution is a bit blurrier with the anime one, I was screwing around in the program and I fiddled with a ton of settings haha.

I welcome constructive criticism, and if anyone has any experience animating 3d, that would be appreciated all the more. ^_^

The only thing I can offer is on the arms, when casual walking, people kinda sway them at the end, bending it forward and straightening them when swinging back. Though, totally awesome, Cein.

Yes, I got all those items you listed, but there is not much you can do with them other than pose them. I did one using one of the Modern Day poses and learned how to turn the figure so I could sit in one of the prop chairs and changed the background. I didn't like any of the forest props or beach props. They just seemed to get in the way and I couldn't see any use for them. Maybe I'll post what I did later when I get home. But I want to be able to do an Avatar and a signature, so I'll need clothes and props, etc that are fantasy based, yes?
