Kelly had sat down with her consort Gunnar at one of the tables in the newly opened casino. It wasn't too bad as they carried on conversation. After a short while more guests filtered inside. A group of them came in with torches.
She closed her eyes and took in the scent of the burning wood and oils on the torches. Fire was never a good thing to any creature. As they stood around the table she and Gunnar sat at, she glanced down at her enchanted pickaxe affectionately called "Grave Digger". She looked back to Gunnar and resumed their conversation.
She did not enjoy the flames' heat but it reminded her of her homeland in the desert. The casino's keeper came up and asked if anyone wished to play cards or dice. It was then she and Gunnar decided to go downstairs for a simple game of dice. More to get away from the torches than anything else.
It was not long after they had begun to play, that a shout was heard followed by a great explosion upstairs. Kelly growled as she knew the torch wielders had been the ones to do it. The stench of wood and fabric burning permeated the air as the smoke filtered throughout the establishment. Sandstone walls were a great idea as the flames could only burn so much.
Kelly and Gunnar waited below with Phelix until the fire extinguished itself. "I knew they were up to no good. Keep my coin to help the repairs along Phelix." Kelly patted him on the shoulder and then walked outside with Gunnar to go visit Tatiana's place. A wicked smile grew on Kelly as they toured Tatiana's new design. "Tis time Gunnar." At those words they bid Tatiana good evening and parted ways.
Alone now, the Dark Princess of the Cappadocians went to the stables and called her loyal black stallion Barra. He pranced out to meet her.
She gave him a sweet apple as was the usual then slid up on his back. He reared with excitement and Kelly patted his muscular neck and laughed. "Easy Barra. You know something's up don't you?" She patted him again as he nickered and pawed the sandstone ground of the Luna stable. "Let's go for a ride." She didnt have to say anything or do anything else as her mount surged into a great ground covering gallop.
She savored the ride and enjoyed the night alone. They rode along and approached the lands the Sanctans called home. She drew Barra to a halt. "No...not this land...not tonight. We go to another city this night my four-legged friend." She opened her book and incited a few words transporting them to a small city.
"Ahhh tis time to get to know the locals Barra" She barged her mount into every building with an open door and her steed kicked open any locked ones. She slit the throat of several shop keepers and instilled fear into the rest throughout the night. A few brave citizens attempted to strike back but Kelly made short work of them and a most brutal fashion.
A young man with a sword charged her as she came out of the Inn.
They fought until he was exhausted and she gripped his swordarm tightly.
"Tell whomever you wish of this slaughter." She leaned close to his face. "No one will hear you." She then unceremoniously plunged her fangs into his neck and fed. Dropping him to the ground when she was done. He was far from death but bore the bite.
She slipped up onto Barra and they rode across the docks into the night...leaving the City of Skara Brae in chaos.
She rode south once over the docks and shouted. "Rangers! The City of Skara Brae has been attacked!" She watched as they came out armed with their bows and blades running toward her. "Hurry! They aren't safe!"
She shouted in a frantic tone.
She saw them run like the cattle they were. And when they were close enough, she charged into them. Her mount trampling several as she attacked them throughout the night.
When Kelly had finished, she looked to the horizon and cursed.
"Damnnable sunrise." She opened her book and both she and Barra went to Minoc where she slapped him on the rump and let him go graze. "Until the night my loyal mount." With that she opened her book and after a quick thought was in the walls of her home. Kelly crept into her coffin with a smile on her face. "Time to give the law something to do." She then closed her eyes. |
