Woh now I'm not saying there isn't any roleplay going on, many of you missunderstand.
I'm not complaining about people complaining, I'm more astounded that people are complaining about the same things.
just cause folks complain doesn't mean people are not having fun or there is no roleplay, if thats your response then your not listening to what I'm saying.
I don't expect a perfect utopia of happy roleplayers, just amazed that I can log in here and see arguements about the same stuff I was arguing about back in 2004! it kind of is like...wow...
Thank you Arcy for getting my point. _________________ After all these years, I'm still putting up with Kuja and Vaen? whats wrong with me?

The only reason no one fights with you Caer is no one can understand you! That's why ZOG was such an awesome guild to allie with =)
Even if you said something that would piss me off, I probably missed it =p _________________

Maybe people argue about the same issues that you had because no one knows how to resolve those old issues. Maybe the old RPers who left because of such things should come back and try to quiet the old arguments. It is said if you do not learn history you are doomed to repeat it. Well you older guys have the knowledge and sit back like a bunch of Jedi's. I'm not trying to flame or step on toes, but step up, tell people how to solve their problems.

a very solid point, however many of us older and retired folks, myself and arcana as examples, left due to there being no resolutions of these problems other than people getting over themselves.
My only advice is when crap hits the fan, talk it out, over icq, don't drag it to the forums. Be flexible and adaptable and respectable. Finaly understand that just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening. And never resort to just "ignoring someone because you don't like their roleplay"
I don't have the answers, but thats my advice. _________________ After all these years, I'm still putting up with Kuja and Vaen? whats wrong with me?

Arlin,
I think there is another half-ogre running around. Miss you man.
I talk to everyone that doesn't run away screaming ... which limits my conversations a lot.
Through the years that is one thing I have learned. I am not always right. In fact, I have made many mistakes. I would like to believe that I have patched as many fences as I can. _________________ "He's been fired from the Shrimp Boat?" -- Charlaine Harris "Living Dead In Dallas." |

Sorry I'm a little late, 12 days to be exact, but I've been out of town a lot.
Leshok I can see your point.
I also see the point of many who have posted thus far.
But while I do see some of the same problems that we saw as a comunity years and years ago, I think you've acknowledged that it's a new generation of atlantic rp'ers without really fully acknowledging that fact.
I do not mean that as an insult in any way, but lets look at some of the questions mentioned.
Who is controlling who's RP?
Who is stomping on Who's Rp?
Who is cybering who?
Who's new rp is better than who's old lore?
I know these are examples and are not the entirety of your argument. All the same though, I look at these specific questions and feel that while they aren't easy to answer, we have come up with answers to some of them. In a way alot of them have to be answered objectively and come down to a matter of opinion we have to find compromises in.
What sticks out the most in my mind though is that these are all questions that veterans to the community have for the most part already dealt with and found their own answers too. The new players, or players from other shards new to our community, may not neccessarrily have had to deal with this yet, and will have these questions arise.
There are things we can do yes, I agree. We should try and take certain steps to improve our community. But to an extent these questions are unavoidable. Our answers and the way we have dealt with all our problems is not information readily available to a new player.
No matter how much history you know, you can only do so much to prevent it from happening.
My only advice here is that we learn from our mistakes and take the answers we've found and do the best we can to guide or communicate them with the new players we come across as our community steams forward. _________________ "You see I can not be forsaken, because I'm not the only one. Marsil, with a community as old and storied as Atlantic is, I think a lot of us lurkers were hoping that mistakes would be learned from and improvements made. To me, it looks like the same community I left four years ago, just different names.

I hear what you're saying Marsil, but back when I was active I feel that the suggestions I made for what I considered to be improvement just did not interest people.
Maybe one day a little quarter-ogre spawn of Arcana and Arlin will wander into Britannia, but probably not |
