I agree on that point... I don't think Virtues are a "faith" thing, they're simply codes to live by, and that's how I usually roleplay them. However, Raedyn does roleplay "The Light", some higher being of "good", so he has that divine aspect as well as the Virtuous code. |

Ultimately I'm always left with the feeling that what most lightbringers want to RP ISN'T a paladin, but rather a crusader. They want to go around smiting evil and set the virtues aside if it's necessary to accomplish that. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with going around smiting evil, it's just not exactly what being a paladin is about in UO.
*edit*
And Blings truly was the best paladin. *nods sagely* |

I usually do play dory as what I consider a paladin. I purposely give her faults, but she does try to follow the virtues, but without trying to impose them on anyone, with the exception of her children. The one she finds the hardest to follow is humility. She gets snipity at times especially when arguing with people. On the basics, though, she's pretty good about following them. Her only lie is she doesn't have a temper. But, as far as preaching the virtues, she won't. It's not in her to do so, when she can see too well why someone wouldn't follow them. *shrugs* |

yeah the virtues can be followed by anyone, even folks of the...less than good persuasion
Paladin roleplay is rough, hard to do. Cause your trying to be pinnacley good, while still being flawed, and not being stupid.
Paladins are not the ends justifying the means....but the means justifying the ends! kind of just my view.
but also the virtues are such an interesting topic, i could go on and on about them, and how they are connected, and how they depend on each other.
Just look at the virtue symbol! its very design speaks of how the virtues are related!
can explain more later if you don't get it! _________________ After all these years, I'm still putting up with Kuja and Vaen? whats wrong with me?
