Emerging from the museum, Ceinwyn gazed about her at the familiar sight of the dark city. The place had become home, though she had never intended to settle there. What had originally started as just a staging ground for her invasion of Trinsic had bloomed gradually into something much much more.

Umbra had become a free nation over the course of the past few years. A seeming beacon of freedom against the persecution of the different and odd. Many had flocked to take shelter under the wing of safety Umbra had offered. Those so eager to get revenge, so very like herself so long ago, greedily took up the blade against Umbra's enemies.

Ceinwyn, firmly believing that knowledge is power, had instructed each WIT student on the history of the lands. Each child raised in Umbra viewed the outside world with scorn. There had been few exceptions to this outlook, and those had left Umbra to follow their own fates. For just as the outside world viewed Umbra and those within with hatred and anger, and so those in Umbra's dark lands did also view the outsiders.

As Ceinwyn sat in the tavern enjoying a glass of bloodwine, her thoughts turned to Lord Sid. It had been sometime since she had seen him. Perhaps it was time to pay him a visit and see where his loyalties lay.

A cold breeze touched Merci's lips swirling around her. It was not a coincidence, she longed for the iciness of winter weather. She reminisced for a bit of her newer days in the guild. When she was but a reaver, learning the ways of Umbra, devoting herself it its cause.

It had grown quickly within her, proving herself one of Ceinwyns most trusted Warlords, she had worked hard belongside Ceinwyn never faultering always pushing for Umbra to be the best. All that she did was for Umbra and all that she did for Umbra was for Ceinwyn. So when she ascended her position of Matriarch just below Ceinwyn she was honored and lived only to serve her duties.

The time had passed and now she felt that Umbra had truly taken on a life of its own a sleeping monster set free restlessly rearing its head, pulsing with life and death. The people on the surface of Umbra, all of them were part of it. Feeding it, caring for it. At the heart of the beast was Ceinwyn walking in shadow, she was always there always with them no matter where her body roamed....
