Tempt read the orders issues by the Queen, they were clear, and now she had a long trek ahead of her unless Scar would help. She glanced back at the papyrus laying on her desk as she breathed in the sun kissed mid morning air. It was going to be a beautiful day for a ride. She finally turned from the window and started her routine to ready herself for the day.

First though, she would send Scar a message to meet her at the Palace so he can at least show her where she needed to go. Considering the orders included a confrontation with the man that Scar works for, this may not be an enjoyable trip. Carefully, she gathered up the papyrus and hid it away before she penned a note to Scar. She hoped he would help, even though he has always come through before.

Hastily, she scribbled for him to meet her by the end of the day if possible or send word to the contrary, etc. She fastened the note to her raptor and sent her off. With that taken care of , she set her mind on the task ahead, getting her armor and weapons in order before she was to leave...

Scar, standing guard at the Magnate's estate, received the courier and its message. He scribed a brief reply to Tempt...

"Lady Tempt,

I can meet you tonight at the palace. I will be off duty at the appearance of the tenth star in the eastern sky, and will meet you there as soon as possible after that time. I look forward to seeing you. Be well.

Scar"

...and sent it to her.

Scar met with Tempt as planned and both were very glad to see each other after so long a time apart. She asked a favor of him and he agreed to do it: take the subpoena from Justicar Tia Setri and deliver it to his employer. It requested that the Magnate appear before the Regency to answer questions about his behavior that may have led to the attack upon Magincia and its destruction. Scar thought the Magnate might wish to appear if only to deliver one of his famous scathing denunciations of elves and their sympathizers.

He was mistaken, however. Isk was not pleased.

"Tell them that no one in the lands pays them any attention anymore," was the substance of his reply.

"I was told they would seek to arrest you if you refused," Scar mentioned. "I am sure that will not effect your response."

"If they try that, it will be worse for them than for me."

After completing his task and making a report to Isk about the presence of smugglers and pirates using the coastal areas as a stopover and meeting place, Scar took his leave.
