Sitting, reading his history, Marcus became nostalgic.

"Times I've nearly forgotten...", Marcus thought to himself, thinking about his father and brothers.

Suddenly, Gwyn and a stranger walked in the living room. Looking up, Marcus was confused.

"Another suitor, my dear?", questioned Marcus.

Wrinkling her nose, Gwyn responded: "No dear, this one you might know."

Marcus studied the man and invited him to sit. A familiar scar caught his eye. The man spoke, but Marcus wasn't paying attention.

"Where did you get that scar?" Marcus asked.

"I...I don't remember." said the stranger, touching his scar.

"I do." replied Marcus, still nostalgic, as if living in a dream.

"How then, sir?" asked the man.

Marcus got up, walked over to him and handed him a book. "Read", Marcus spoke softly.

While the man sat there reading the text, Marcus observed him closely. He noticed the beard, the MTC emblem, the clothing...the scar.

"Findar...our father...dead?", stammered the man.

"Then you know who you are.", Marcus responded.

Shaking his head slightly, the man replied, "No...I don't."

"I would know my own brother if he sat in front of me." Marcus said, looking carefully and remembering the scar, "You are Braden M'real, son of Draj."

"People in Moonglow call me Darrel." said the man, before he got up and left abruptly.

Marcus couldn't bring himself to stop the man...how could he know what it is like to not remember? Shaking his head, he headed off to Moonglow to find some answers about "Darrel".

Marcus encountered Alexi near the bank and asked if there were any senior members of the Council about. She said she would seek any out.

Vaen Swiftar and Rhiannon came upon him.

"Are you the senior members here?" asked Marcus, knowing Swiftar's face.

"We are." he responded.

"I wish and audience then."

A gate was opened to some building, and Marcus walked inside.

"What can we do for you?" asked Rhiannon.

Marcus pulled out his pipe and was recieved with a frown.

"Perhaps we should step outside." Marcus said, and it was agreed upon. Walking outside and sitting down, Marcus resumed packing his pipe and looked between the two. "For the record, I respect what you are doing here, as a whole."

The two nodded, but said nothing. Marcus swiped some flint against the stone floor and lit his pipe, take a long puff.

"Off the record, I'd like to know about the one you call Darrel", Marcus spoke.

Rhiannon spoke first, saying "I know of him."

"What do you know?"

"Since I don't know you, I wouldn't reveal such things to you."

"I see." Marcus responded, with a pause and a puff, "It seems he may be my brother."

"Well, I wouldn't tell you anything about one of my members." quipped Rhiannon.

"And why should we?" questioned Swiftar, "you side with Talon against us."

Marcus sat back on the stool, humored a bit, but not any less serious, "I side with him should you come to Sanctus, my home, and attempt less than virtuous things. However, that doesn't answer my question."

"No, it doesn't," replied Rhiannon.

"And we don't owe you anything." stated Swiftar.

"But, for a brother, isn't it worth it to tell me what I'd like to know?", Marcus responded, "I don't care that he is here, with you. He is well looked out for, but I would like to know, as a brother."

"It is time for you to leave." protested Rhiannon, with Swiftar gripping his staff, threatening.

"I see."

Marcus rose, pipe in mouth, "Thank you for your hospitality."

Marcus walked out of the building and returned home. What was it they were trying to hide? Was this, in fact, his long lost brother? Were they using the knowledge of such against him? Why would an island of truth hide the truth? All of these things he pondered for the rest of the night.

"Braden is strong," Marcus said to his wife as they lay in bed that night. "If it is him, I'll find him again, and say all I need to say."

"He's my brother...isn't it worth it?"

Rhiannon leaned back in her chair, fiddling with the pretty gem she kept at her desk. Reviewing the day's events in her mind, she laughed here and there - frowned there and here. Her brow furrowed when she thought of the discussion with Marcus.

Did he honestly think she would give him information about one of her citizens? She was responsible for the safety of all Moonglow citizens - sharing information about them to unauthorized individuals, particularly strangers, was not something she practiced.

She shrugged and tossed the gem in the air, watching the candle light glimmer off of it. She caught it and rolled it around in her hands.

"Guess I'd better find this Darrel person," she said aloud. She set the gem on her desk and stepped out of her office, onto the porch. There, her intentions were interrupted - she smiled happily to the handsome man who greeted her with a wink.

I'll go find what's his name tomorrow, she thought to herself and giggled quietly, rushing into Fong's arms.

Beowulf sat in the meeting Champers on the Moonglow Town Council Hall. He sighed quietly, briefly remembering the meetings him and Samon held together the Council, along with the times he and Fong had done so as well. Times had changed, there were many new faces and old faces now wearing the blue uniform.

He remember each and every member that had been recruited into Moonglow. Some had even resided themselves with the Council when they're own organizations fell through. That is why the past couple weeks had confused him.

The one the members had come to call "Darrel" wondered the streets. Unaware of his past or how he'd gotten there.

"I remember the day we recruited the M'real. He was upset, lost, and in a time of need. Conflicts had rose amongst the M'reals and even a bit of Sanctus." Beowulf whispered quietly to himself. "He was a strong warrior, wise and brave. We hadn't needed to teach him too much, due to his extensive training prior to joining Moonglow. Now however, it seems he's forgotten who he is, who he was, where he came from and how he got here."

Beowulf has chosen to remain quiet for the time being. He didn't wish to startle the man who seemed to be a stranger. Braden wouldn't know Beowulf from Adam, it wouldn't be right to approach him just yet. It wasn't his place.

"What happened while I was gone? Where could his memorys have found themselves?" Beowulf sighed quietly and rubbed his temples. "Perhaps I should meet with Vaen and the others and tell them what I know."

He knew Fong hadn't been present very often around the time that Braden joined. The other members who were, probably wouldn't be able to put two and two together. The only other person who would have remember was Samon, and he resided quietly in his house.

"Aye...it would be the wise decision." Beo stood and headed out of the Hall, towards the Arcanamach Quarters.

She listened silently as he spoke. She knew he was troubled over this.

She moved closer resting her head on his chest, "Yes it is worth it dear."

She would have to find the letter she knew had been written; Lady Penny told her of such some time ago. She mentioned he had gone to study the virtue of honesty with those in Moonglow. But why, why would he be told his name was Darrel? Surely those in Moonglow would seek to let him know truth.

"Perhaps those you spoke with do not know him dear." She looked up at him. "It has been some time since he left here."

*************************************************

Her mind thought back to earlier in the evening.

She knew when she had seen the man, that it was Braden. The facial structure, the mannerisms. They were quite similar. She recalled speaking with him before he left for Moonglow. Yet he did not recognize her. The only way to know for sure was to bring him to speak with Marcus.

Braden had left abruptly yet returned after a brief absence while Marcus was out.

"Am I truly a M'real?" he looked questioningly at her.

She looked up and spoke softly. "Yes, you are. The similarities are there, you resemble Marcus."

"I...do?"

"Yes," she smiled warmly and offered a soft giggle. "You both have hairy faces."

He let out a chuckle.

They exchanged small talk for a short time. Braden felt it was time to return to Moonglow and as promised she opened a portal to ensure a safe return for him.

Before stepping through she told him, "This is your family, know you are welcome to return here when you wish."

He smiled and nodded to her offering the same for when she travelled to Moonglow.

**************************************************

"The truth always surfaces my love." She kissed Marcus' cheek softly before laying her head back down on his chest.

She would have to search for the letter. Perhaps Braden would recognize his own script and know the truth of who he was.

As Marcus M'Real left, Vaen chuckled and turned to Rhi. "I told you. Waste of time. And I'm not sure if he's actually that stupid, or if he's just playing it to annoy us. Don't let him get to you. He's not worth it." Vaen grinned, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We don't know if he was telling the truth, or lying to us. We did the right thing."

Rhi nodded and then sighed. "I need to spend some time in my office before heading out. I should do some research on this Darrel person. See what I can find out."

"Of course. I'll let Phyrra know she should talk to you about the matter. She and Darrel have spoken more often than I." He sighed, "Also, I should head back to Brianha. She probably needs something. Again." Vaen then muttered something about pregnant women, to which Rhi found amusing. She then let out a soft giggle and retreated into her office.

Vaen shook his head with a light chuckle. Stretching his arms in the air, he took a step off the porch and then recalled away. Upon entering his home, he found Brianha watering some of the plants. He grinned slightly and then embraced her lovingly. Finally being able to spend some time with his fiancee.

Waking from yet another dream Braden rose in a sweat. Ever since waking with no memory he has had the same dream, a man in blue shouting for him to run. Then quickly followed by a deafening blast. This was perhaps Braden's only glimpse at a past memory for everything else was nothing but a fuzzy picture full of odd sounds and unfamiliar faces.

Sliding into his boots he made his way to the coast of Verity Isle. Looking out over the ocean was the only place that he found himself at peace. Perhaps it was the calming sounds of the birds and mist of the ocean blown up against his face that calmed him... or not. But calming it was and it allowed for him to think about what has unfolded for him in the past week. Was he M'real? Who is this man Marcus who claims to be his brother? The M'real's were very kind, much like the people who accepted him into the city of Moonglow. They were the first and only people to actually recognize Braden, so perhaps they speak truth. Why would they lie anyways. What is to gain from a poor man with no memory? What is to gain? For now the only remedy for the confusion is time. And staring out over the ocean, time seems to be in the plenty for now.
