Kuja, LOL at that shirt. An excellent way to conclude your latest manifesto.
KR could have been so good if they'd gotten it right and done it about 6 years ago. I remember seeing the screenshots and thinking "wow! finally!" but then I saw the WoW-clone interface (I love WoW, but I don't want UO to be WoW) and actually tried playing it... =/ |

meh i gave up on roleplay vs mechanics arguement along time ago, with evil rpers using chivalry, so what ever! If that can make sense a mage in plate mail can too.
Lets face it, there is NO restrictions or hell even guidelines to what you can or can't do with your roleplay, so why not let them have their metal armors too? i would have loved to have them instead of the odd suits i have had or covering with robes, etc.
People like their shinies, deal with it, so let them have custom shinies i say.
I will always be more concerned with the guy emoting his angel wings and rising into the sky on a pillar of fire, than the mage wearing platemail.
how about this trade off? in return for mage armor except craft metal armor, all mage armor exceptional craft metal armor HAS TO HAVE their guild badge printed on it so you always know who they are with?
oooo maybe exceptionaly made maps by cartographers could show land claims!!
pick a better fight people. _________________ After all these years, I'm still putting up with Kuja and Vaen? whats wrong with me?

Hehe, go for it. I did 8 (years) x 12 (months) x 12 (dollars), since I'd be 8 year at this point. Was tempted to average 11.50 instead of 12, but with the new 'internet tax' on UO, I just went with 12. |

prolly not the place but i see this all the time. jou'nar, was a paladin til the second time he died. But i say this comming from an evil guild who things they are doing the ultimate good. our ooc motto is no one can do more evil than the one who thinks they are doing good. its like having that good always wins factor on your side. any who. i cant imagine why a mage couldnt wear plate. youd just imagine there could be consequinces, thats really what uo lacks... i can understand some of the crap uo got rid of, but losing dex for each peice of plate....why would you ever get rid of that?
and whenever EA thinks of adding a consquince, mass bitching. _________________

While it sounds nice and all, do you think they could implement something like that without it ending up being insanely buggy? It would end up having bugs that would drop your armour to the ground or have it disappear without changing. |
this could be done in one - two days and be 100% bug free. as a game coder, the actual graphic of an item is 100% sperate from anyting else about the item, its just a graphic associated with a block of code. if they did this(now that the dev that opposed this is gone) if should require resources, and a crafter. UO needs more sink opportuinities _________________

That wouldn't work, though, as you'd have people turning metal armor into leather armor. And while it will still say "A verite gorget," it will look like a leather gorget. Opens up a LOT of scamming opportunities. Just look at the all the people who fell for the fake runic hammer scam _________________

STOP GODMODING MY ITEM NAMES!!!!! just kidding.
I was really only thinking in the case of artifacts. and tho it may not be as simple as changing the graphic, it can still be rather simple, such as; perhaps bearing a new property tag such as " recrafted " or simply bearing the item name in a new color. you could make it a bit more complex to fix the item name like removing whatever element was used from the name or something. It might not be as easy, as uo is very old and complex, but it can be done. and as far as scamming goes, i have nothing agains people educating themselves. theres a reason scamming isnt mentioned in the tos. its a job class!
im prolly gonna back outta this one. there are a million ways to to make something mage armor. I should mention however, this was mentioned at townhall and the devs there showed high previous and post intrest on getting this fixed. Im sure it will get worked out, and be far better than the idea above. however i would like to see articats with changeable graphic, perhaps when you get the arti, theres a gump for graphic choice...mmMMmm _________________
